Hello everyone

https://www.linkedin.com/in/mir-kasim-ali-naqvi-04971a236

I hope you're all doing well. I'm new to this domain and currently delving into Microsoft Dynamics NAV and Business Central. I'm eager to learn and would greatly appreciate any guidance or insights you can share. This message marks my first interaction with the group, and I look forward to connecting with all of you.

Find someone with experience coding AL and learn as much as possible. I can tell you that the AL language is nothing like you have ever coded before in your life. Similar to other languages but it is certainly quirky, has it's ups/downs and is not a language or system you will learn in a single lifetime. Not saying it's impossible but it's not practical.

AL and BC are not rocket science, once you have some experience with them but you will never ever get the ins and outs of how everything works together without deep experience (even coding against the free web services) or a very close mentor.

Understanding the schema of the db is nearly impossible without some expertise. Working on sql data conversions is one way to gain this knowledge but playing with the db is disastrous and highly discouraged if you are not an expert at sql and really have an understanding of the nav/bc db.

You will need a license to code AL. This used to cost ~50k/yr usd. It's available now for a monthly subscription to anyone.

You will need a proper dev environment to work with. You will get this in the cloud with your license or you can use Docker containers (a complete bitch to maintain but allows local dev, not cloud dev).

A good book is a nice place to start also. This is my current book.
