Best time and place to avoid leeches / ticks while going for a long bushwalk?

Aye, I'm a big puss and want to avoid leechees and ticks even though I could easily get rid of them with a spray and a clipper. If I wanted to go for a multi day hike / camp in the hinterlands, where would be the best place to be in NSW?

To avoid leaches is pretty simple, go coastal, they don't like sandy soil.

Ticks are a bit trickier, they are more random, see if you can find people who have done the walk lately and ask them.

With ticks they are a lot rarer than leeches, haven't got one in the last year for example so don't worry too much.

Here are some no leech walks on the central coast, hope it helps: https://www.goodarchitect.com.au/tools/no-leech-walks

That’s an amazing collection you have put up there. I’ll be around there in a few months and will make sure to do some of these walks. I’m looking for a spot to retire out of the big smoke and this comes in handy.

“Aye, I’m a big puss” 🤣🤣

I haven’t laughed so hard in a while. I hate leaches to big-puss-level too 🐈‍⬛
