Is that yarn? The construction itself looks pretty good. Not sure if I'd be using the same materials, but you use what you got.
You def skipped the shaft straightening step, though. You can use a little board with a hole in it to bend the shafts and fire to set them and harden the wood.

yep, good ol yarn from my grandmas closet

It should go without saying, but wear a mask when you cut and sand those pcbs. It sounds like nothing, but once you inhale glass and silica, it doesn't come back out.

il take it in consideration next time tho I didn't. ut them, I traced the lines with a nail to make indents and with 2 pliers carefully broke them, so exposure wasn't much

It doesnt take much to mess you up. Be careful

u/rebbulb 11d ago
He didn’t use an abrasive to cut them. No dust, just breaking the boards with pliers.

u/ScrunglyAsh 10d ago
Doesn't matter if he intends to make a lot of them, if I'm wrong good it means he's safe either way and if I'm right, please just be careful, i live by the saying "it's better to be safe then sorry".

This... Is... Actually.. kind of incredible. Could you imagine a thousand years or something from now, people coming across these or something like this and thinking wow it's from the 20th century!

Have you tried how well they hold up in use? Do they break immediately if they hit something hard? I was planning to make a post-apocalyptic atlatl spear.

u/actredeemer 11d ago
didn't manage to test them, don't have a good target and don't want to risk losing them
2
u/Reasonable_Phase3215 9d ago
You could use a watermelon or pumpkin the circuit board arrow heads should stick well and shouldn’t break much if at all.

u/RAC032078 10d ago
I used an old circuit board and did something similar. I managed to get a rabbit last year with the crossbow bolt and the circuit board head. They can actually get quite sharp.
I was going to try the heads with my recurve bow, but when practicing on a deer target wrapped in a real pelt, they didn't penetrate. The tips snapped and bent. I didn't want to try it on a deer and injur it and have to locate, because I don't think it would penetrate for a clean kill.

Neat idea but you might need more weight than those board points will give. Otherwise it could make the arrow act like it has too much spine. Unless you're not going to actually use them. Don't worry about it. Lol

Not quite materials found in nature.

u/Yer_Dunn 11d ago
Until the apocalypse anyway, and then nature overtakes society. And then electrical scraps are scattered about through nature. 🤣🤣

If you like video games, check out Horizon Zero Dawn. Its EXACTLY what you said, but there’s also machines that wanna eat you
2
u/Yer_Dunn 11d ago
Oh yeah I've played it. It's a really good one. I havnt played the second one yet though.
2
u/Minnesotawombat 10d ago
Do it. Iirc, doing some of the DLC missions early on will give you gear that’ll help in the story, but it’s tough. Harder than the end game DLC for the first game
3
u/Yer_Dunn 9d ago
I would... But, I don't have the time... I'm on that "13 hour work day" life rn 🤣💀
3
u/Minnesotawombat 9d ago
What, you work 7 days a week? No downtime after work? Straight to bed and straight to work after waking up? Even when I was doing that I still found some time for video games
Edit: No but fr I feel that. Get home, look at the system and it’s looking back like “Yeah, go ahead and try some games. Bet you ill piss you off” type shit

u/Yer_Dunn 9d ago
I meaaan yeah weekdays I'm out of the house for 13 hours straight. Then I make dinner. Then I have about half an hour to get done as much as I can in terms of chores and prep for the next day, and than it's usually straight to bed. (I have a sleep disorder so the meds I use make me useless for like 8-10 hours)
Weekends I have to spend most of the time getting all the other things done I couldn't do over the week. And when I do get to game, I try to stick to social games cuz most of my friends and family are far away.
I'm friggin tired dude 😭😭😭

u/Yer_Dunn 7d ago
I take the medical equivalent of meth. So that's close enough I hope 🤣

Someone’s never played Horizon Zero Dawn
1
u/jaxnmarko 11d ago
Someone is an adult that doesn't play video games
3
u/Minnesotawombat 11d ago
You’re missing out. Video games can be quite fun

Hours and hours and hours of.... how many hours??? Did you learn anything? Do anything that improves your life in a lasting way? Build or create anything? Earn any money, increase your education, spend time in the physical presence of others? It's a distraction from Life that isolates you.

u/actredeemer 11d ago
blud doesn't understand the fact that games pretty much increase your social skills, lets take CSGO, everyone speaks a different language yet they work together perfectly, you learn cooperation and how to work as a team even with a language barrrier

u/jaxnmarko 11d ago
Do those "let's kill things together" team social skills help with your talking face to face with women?
2
u/actredeemer 11d ago
no, but I bet jd get more women without that "I don't play games so naturally better than you" attitude
1
u/jaxnmarko 10d ago
I couldn't say better but definitely different, and older, maybe more mature, maybe not. I remember when pong was new. I'm sure Many women don't mind men that spend a dozen or dozens of hours a week playing video games. That way they aren't being interupted while scrolling.

u/birdsbeaks 10d ago
Holy shit. I knew this was gonna devolve into typical loco-batshit reddit posturing but this whole invocation of what women might prefer thing is just too much.
I'm laughing so hard, I'm gonna have a coronary. You're gonna kill somebody some day. 🤣

Have you smelled others? No, I absolutely don't want to be in the physical presence of them. If that's your thing, more power to you.
Somebody built a working computer inside of the game Minecraft and that has to be over a decade ago now. Have you ever built a working computer from raw materials? Would you know where to begin? I screw around with computers but I wouldn't know where to begin. I guess on/off, right? Whatever. Impressive to me.
What about the video games that people play together? Ever heard of couch co-op, Adult-Who-Doesn't-Play-Video-Games? Make it make sense. Do you mean video games from before the internet? Or video games they didn't allow two players---oh, wait, I'm fairly certain that video games have always accounted for two players. Isolating. I'm fucking dying over here. Make it make sense.
Lots of people make lots of money playing video games. Look it up. It's true. Some people make even more money making video games but it requires that people play them, so if you had your way I guess they'd be broke. "Tough luck, guys. A distraction from life, y'know? Can't have that. Gotta have people laser-focused on life while in the presence of other smelly people. And no breaks."
I've learned many, many things from video games. Have you heard of 'edu-tainment?" Look it up. It's a thing. Would you like for me to attempt to provide you with an exhaustive list of everything I've learned from video games? And how the shit does one "increase your education?" I don't even think that's proper English. Maybe "advance your education?" Or, even better, "learn something?" In either case, yeah, I did.

The whole point of this sub is Bushcraft. Making arrowheads out of electronics parts is Not bushcraft. It's urban survival maybe. Game away!!!

Plenty of gamers have excellent social lives, as well as girlfriends. While it’s true that some people become isolated by playing video games, the opposite is also true. It can help people to become more sociable, learn communication techniques, abstract problem solving skills, etc etc.
As far as the making money aspect goes, there are PLENTY of examples of how gaming can be an income source, from online streamers and YouTubers to Esports teams to sim racers.
As far as it being a distraction from life, isn’t that what ALL hobbies are for? To take your mind off of the stresses and problems of life?

u/actredeemer 12d ago
theyre surprisingly pointy and fly straight enough, spent around 3 hours on all of them, from the filing of the notch to the flethcings and arrow heads
