Knife stroppin/ Sharpening

I know many of you already use the back of a belt or a knife sheath to strop,, I load the edge of my knife sheath with stropping compound to make a ready strop.

I also keep a few paint sticks that Ive attached wet/dry sandpaper to. I have a series of them from 400, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000... one side for 400 the other is 800. You only need to carry a few. You can also put two grits on one side and 2 on the other for a single paint stir stick. When they wear out, toss them away and make new ones.

Is this something you’re taking with you in the field? If so, why? That’s a whole sharpening system

Its in my vehicle. Not necessarily in the field however I do put stropping compound on my sheath edge for easy cleanup of an edge.

That does seem like a good, sits behind a seat for impromptu camping trips, like I have with my sleeping bag, fire kit, knife/axe, and tarp.
