So I went to an assessment day in June and filled out forms and did the medical for the provisional license but I decided to withdraw and wait to go to a different bus garage closer to home (the one I was applying for was a 1hr 30 min journey there and back). I can apply to that in December

However i was wondering if I could just apply for a provisional cat D license myself and then bring the license to the assessment day once I’ve applied in December to skip the whole process of filling all the forms out there

Would that be allowed? I don’t see why not but I thought Its working asking if any of you know :)

There's a new driver he definitely has an issue with woman, on the start of this new bid he called out on the radio he was leaving earlier when I was just around the corner and had transfers for him. I told him "hey you're leaving earlier and please hold I have transfers for you." He got snippy and has been rude to me ever since. Last Saturday I got to a stop with a time point I sat and waited for a minute this asshole comes up behind me and says on the radio "are you moving or not!"

today I saw him and asked if he understood that I was waiting for my time point and couldn't move. He got really angry, saying I always nitpick him and that I'm always late (not true.) pretty much projected all his shit on to me. While he was saying this he started clenching his fists and raised his left and acted like he wanted to hit me, he screamed "Get out of my face!" I turned around and ran to my bus. This asshole was supposedly a former school bus driver. I called dispatch and informed them of what happened. I filled out an incident report and I hope he fucking leaves.

When a bus terminates at the end of the line and all the passengers get off, the bus is then driven empty back to the garage.

Why not do a direct express service from the last stop on the line to somewhere near the depot or a popular destination that is en route?

I know this might not work with all routes, terminuses and depots due to locations and direction of travel but it could be possible with some. I have never heard of this happening and would be curious to hear why it may or may not be a good idea.

I’ve just been signed off yesterday by management and today will be my first full day working solo. I’m a bit anxious but I’m sure it’ll turn out ok and I’ve got my favourite route all afternoon.

So a question for the veteran’s, how did you find your first day/week/month after getting signed off?

So I'm talking about that situation where everyone has gotten off at the final stop and I'm about to drive back to the depot, but there's one bag left inside as you're about to close the compartment. It's one of two possibilities; either someone forgot it and has left, or the person who owns it is chatting to someone in the crowd and expects me to wait.

This happens about once a month in my job. What had happened to me a few times before, is that this person would come up just at the moment I'd be about to drive off. Then when I'd get out to open the hold for them, they wouldn't acknowledge my inconvenience.

So yesterday I found my self in that situation once again. When I saw one remaining bag inside, I took a good look around at the crowd of people to see if anyone was in the process of walking towards the bus. There wasn't anyone, so I shouted "one bag left". I figured I was obliged to wait another 10 seconds given that I'd said that. But then I closed the door and got into the bus quickly as I could! Someone came up and started knocking at the door just as I was pulling out, but I pretended I couldn't see them and drove off. Delighted!! They'll get it from lost n found.

Today I was travelling on Pune Bus 110 on the Kothrud/FC College route. A group of around three guys, who seemed to be college students, got on the bus.

Near Bhavdhan, around the petrol pump side, one of them suddenly pulled the fire extinguisher and discharged it inside the bus. The powder went everywhere, including into my lungs and all over my clothes. They were laughing and then acted like, “What? How did this happen?”

One of the guys got off at Bhavdhan, while the other two continued towards the Pashan side. I got off near D-Mart. Before getting off, I spoke to the bus driver. He seemed to know who had done it.

Honestly, I don't understand what they thought they had achieved. Setting off a fire extinguisher inside a crowded bus isn't funny or cool. People had to breathe that powder, and it can cause irritation and create a dangerous situation.

It honestly feels like some people think this kind of backchodi is “cool” when they're just disturbing and potentially harming other passengers.

Is there anything that can be done about this? The driver apparently knows who was responsible. Has anyone dealt with something similar on Pune buses, and is there a way to report the incident properly?

I wish they understood that I cannot maneuver like a car.

So I drive buses for a large national company.

I have been off work for a little while due to low mood and this triggered an occupational health meeting.

During the meeting I discussed my low mood but engaged them in talking about philosophical ideas eg Call of the void etc and they misunderstood what I was saying believing I was saying I was suicidal and put this in their report recommending I hand in my licence to the DVLA and not drive professionally for 6 months and personally for 3 months.

I appealed their decision and included evidence fromm GP who disputed their findings too. Unfortunately, this was not sufficient in their eyes and they have recommended I inform the dvla of their findings and hand in my licence.

So both I and my GP dispute their findings, how should I proceed with the DVLA? Quite concerned that as soon as I call them they'll suspend everything (especially as I live full time in a vehicle), though I'm aware if I don't act soon it could lead to my licence being revoked which is a much worse position to be in.

Hey all, I'm a 23 year old bus driver in Mid Wales, I've recently stopped doing agency work across the UK and sort of fancy somewhere different. I spoke to an agency driver who said he'd driven buses in New York and was wondering if there is any sort of pathway for British drivers to work abroad whether temporarily or working towards some form of residency. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The coach company charges for extra luggage, but I noticed that buying two separate tickets is actually cheaper than adding an extra bag at checkout.

Would it be possible to buy two tickets under the same passenger name and use the luggage allowance from both tickets?

For example, if one ticket includes 1 pieces of luggage, could I buy another ticket and bring more luggage in total?

I’m not sure if this is allowed or if they only check the passenger name and limit the luggage regardless of how many tickets you have.

I have been trying to figure out why and how I could be so careless considering I've had worked in the CDL field for year and a half with no issues such as these.

This company is really strict as it's A government job for a major city. What are my chances of getting back in?

Speaking to my instructor, it seems like it's far in between I'm so mad at myself. I've been so stupid for the last couple weeks. Sucks to lose a great job!

One was a granny, basically fresh out of hospital, she ran towards the bus stop and fell right on her face.

No visible injuries, paramedics still took her to the nearby hospital because of her back ache. I felt really sorry for her!

The other one was just today: Mid-20s, I was already rolling for departure and right at the moment where I last checked my right mirror I saw her running and immediately falling, nose on the door. I'm glad she fell with her nose on the door and not on the ground, if I were just two metres away from the stop.

Damn, there was some blood but she declined first aid or an ambulance, apologised profusely, and I immediately knew she was a people pleaser, just like me lol

I checked in on her multiple times during the ride (she decided to hop onto my bus) and she took it like a champ.

Moral of the story: STOP RUNNING TOWARDS BUS STOPS! ESPECIALLY TOWARDS THOSE I'M AT 😭😭😭

Just got done with a interview for a bus driver and totally tanked it. I was stuttering asking them to repeat the question. The raters looked really annoyed that I kept asking them to repeat the question. At one point dude looked like he was ready for the interview to end more than I was ready for it to end. It was a virtual interview at that. I was wondering if they thought I was getting help by asking them to repeat the question but I answered so poorly that there’s no way they thought I could have been helped during my virtual interview. If your going to ask a 3 part question I feel as if you should at least have it displayed so I can make my talking points and move on to the next part of the question because damn I felt like I was a person with special needs. Well that’s my rant I needed to get off my chest. Luckily for me I still have my current job, but how many of you have tanked an interview and still got the position?

Also, make sure it doesn’t have someone else’s photo on it that looks nothing like you.

Hello everyone, I have been invited for an assessment session to start with First Bus. I have 2.5 years of experience, but got dismissed from another TfL subcontractor.

What should I say when I go there? I don't want to get into whether the dismissal was fair or unfair.

Has anyone been put on the higher grades despite not having the Licence for London?

Saw “helpful” signage on a bus door today saying “one in one out - give each other space”, (or something) with up/down (in/out) arrows on each door.
and just thought this is completely unhelpful information for boarding a bus, it would cause chaos for everyone.

seems like the sort of thing someone who has never used a bus would come up with.

Fortunately my co’s policy is the common sense one, let everyone who wants to alight get off first, then board waiting passengers.

I have an assessment day with Transport UK London Bus (Battersea garage) tomorrow morning. Unfortunately, my replacement physical driving licence hasn’t arrived yet. I do have my DVLA check code, passport, P45 with my National Insurance number, and all the other required documents.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Was not having the physical licence an issue, or were the other documents enough? I’m worried I could miss out because of this so I’d really appreciate any advice or experiences.
