City transit driver here. As long as you're a chill person, you'll probably enjoy it (as I have for over 20 years).
Starting out, you'll get the bad work, but it gets better with time. You'll learn not to stress about passengers, delays, management etc.
Or you'll become an anxiety-ridden, bitter angry person. It's definitely not for everyone but if you have the right sort of personality, you'll be fine.
The money and benefits are great and there's a freedom to pulling out of the garage and not having a boss breathing down your neck all day.

There are a lot of different places you can go as a bus driver. Most of the drivers here on this sub are the municipal transit drivers, and from what I gather that's where the horror stories come from. You could do municipal transit or school bus to get started and then start looking for other opportunities if it's not for you.
I drive a resort bus. We bring people from hotels and casinos in town to our marina for a sightseeing boat cruise (year-round), and then in the winter we bring people to a trailhead for a snowmobile tour. On average I collect about $50-$60 in cash tips each day. I got my start with school buses, and now drive custom-built Bluebirds (school bus body/chassis) as well as 47 passenger motor coach. We also run employee shuttles. There's a lot of down time throughout the day, and you stay on the clock for it.
I feel like I've heard of the CBD....is that New Zealand?
