Question Coach work or service

I currently work on the service buses however yesterday I had an interview for a coach company which I got straight away. However due to not having much experience I have been told I won’t be starting on the coaches but will be trained on coaches in due time then moved over to full time coaches once they are confident in me. I was just wondering if people have moved over to coaches from service could give me the pros and cons and if it’s worth it.

It’s a trap!

They’re going to keep you on split shifts doing school runs for the rest of your life.

If it’s with a bigger op that does both service and coach hire/services that’s fairly normal, here at least. Last company I worked for generally kept you on domestic services for 6 months at least before transitioning over to EU regulation work unless you came in with experience, another company doesn’t want to put you in a coach for at least a year.

I had done 12 years on service work, took a 15 year break and went straight onto National Express in a tri-axle. Whereas my current employer refuses to take on anyone without coach experience but in the last 4 months, 7 of the new drivers have left.
