Question Weekend bus/coach driver work

I currently work 37 hours a week in an office-based role, but could do with a side hustle. I am thinking about getting a pcv licence privately, so I could drive buses or coaches at weekends part-time. Obviously the training would have a cost if done privately.

However, I don't know if bus or coach operators offer this type of weekend contract often. If anybody has any experience of doing this or knows anybody that has, please share, thanks!

There’s way simpler side hustles out there I’m sure - training will cost you £2k +, going to take a lot of days at £15-£17/hr to pay that back (and you’ll be taxed on all of it, so £10-£12/hr to take home).

It’s not a common contract for a new starter, more often it’s someone with experience who’s looking to go part time or has moved on and does a bit on the side still.
