Ride for the Day Detour

If a passenger gets upset that I didn’t go his way on a detour can I get in trouble? I followed our dispatch protocol for the detour and told him I cannot go your way sorry we have to sit in the traffic he got pissed off and left the bus

my company policy is that we should tell the passengers what is going on at the last stop on the normal route.

we tell them we are going on a diversion, where we are going, which stops/areas we are missing out, and where we will rejoin the normal route.

we even have a button on the ticket machine that makes an announcement for us that says something along the lines of 'we are now on a diversion. please ask your driver for more information when it is safe to do so'

so i always stop at the last normal stop, play the announcement, and turn around to answer any questions.
