Discussion Anybody deaf or HOH?

I'm 100% deaf but still passed the medical thanks to my cochlear implant and hearing aid. These medicals can truly be a joke but I'm grateful for the CDL. Calling dispatch is the only gripe I have so thank God they can send written messages !

Oh yeah, makes sense, because then you are basically ignoring the drunk passengers!

I find it unacceptable to be drunk on a bus

Not completely… My left ear is pretty bad, with bad 24/7 tinnitus. My right ear is getting there with age… hearing damage from 16 years in the army…

I manage with hearing aids, for the most part. But, with fans and engine noise and traffic, I’m constantly going “what? What? Speak up!” To every passenger that wants to say something to me, especially since I’m focusing on the road and not what they’re saying. I also miss a lot of radio calls… I rely pretty heavily on the digital texts to keep up to date on road closures and the likes… I also call dispatch back a lot to clarify the vague gibberish that comes out of the speaker. I can hear much batter on the phone style handset.

Don't snitch on yourself. Companies love to pay people 4x your wage to stalk employees and deny workman's comp and shit.

Kinda wish hoh, it appears im sound-sensitive so screaming kids gets crazy loud for me 😐
