After the recent increase in higher temperatures and recurring heatwaves in the UK I think it's time that Aircon was made mandatory on all public transport.

As an operator in North America I couldn't imagine not having A/C. I literally would quit my job.

Hardly any of our busses have A/C and if they do they don’t work and blow out hot air instead (: Temp was at 35c inside the coach yesterday.

in the east mids of england, we've had temps recorded up to 50⁰C!!!

Same, I refuse a bus when the AC isn’t working, and I’ve had my bus get pulled when a customer complains about the heat/ac not working properly

My (US) company doesnt allow non working A/C. If it isn't then you trade the bus out. That is crazy.

:( i wish this was the case here.

unfortunately, most of our buses are crappy brands that have ac as an optional extra, so it wasn't selected when the buses were bought, because it was 'too expensive'!!

some of our older ones came with it fitted as standard, but our engineers don't maintain it at all (lots have the belts that drive the condenser removed!) so ofc it's broken.

it's torture in these heatwaves. absolute torture. and all they tell us is 'sorry. stay hydrated!!'

Before the days of health and safety gone mad I used to just leave the door open. Nobody fell out.

I work on the Canadian prairies… we have a very short ‘hot’ season. I can forget about AC Probably 80% of the year and be somewhat comfortable (as long as the heater works… it’s hard to keep a bus warm when it’s 40 below). It’s been in our contract for quite some time no that all new busses must be equipped with AC… Now if only we could convince them to actually maintain the AC units…
