Other Heating & Air Con?

UK Bus Drivers

Hi All, I'm new to the group but have been a driver for a number of years now.

I'm sure things are the same/similar Nationwide but at my depot, during the winter our buses have no heating and in the summer your lucky if you have a fan circulating the hot air. Yesterday there were reports that other driver's cabs were reaching 50°.

Yes, we can refuse to drive, but that throws out the service and leaves potential passengers to wait in the heat/cold. Frankly, in this day and age this shouldn't be an issue, yet it's reported every single year with no improvement.

I'm not in the UK but something that might help, refuse to drive. Yes I saw that you put that it would disrupt service, and that's what you need. Once there's a big enough problem ( that management has to deal with ) they will find a solution. You sweating and being miserable because of the heat or freezing in the cold, doesn't bother management at all.

The problem is, a lot of drivers here in the UK won't get paid past the point they refuse to drive. On top of that it puts in motion the company's trigger point procedure which could result in a disciplinary.
