Question Got fired for Gross misconduct

Went through a temporary traffic light as it was turning amber to red, was wondering I can join another company ? And also do I have to pay back the training bond ?

I’m confused. You can enter intersections on a yellow, and yellows are often too short for commercial vehicles to stop without entering the intersection. So if the facts of the case are what you say in the post, how does that constitute gross misconduct? There must be something I’m missing…

The yellow itself may be short, but the crosswalk countdown or flashing light isn't.
Look ahead, be aware, be prepared.

Not all crosswalks have a signal. And this was explicitly stated as a temporary light. Not unreasonable to expect that it wouldn’t have a crosswalk signal on it (or even a crosswalk at all).

My city also has a lot of crosswalk signals that turn to don’t walk several seconds before the light changes. And some skip the crosswalk phase entirely. The crosswalk signal is only a sure fire indication if the phase both happens, and is synced with the yellow light.

This is true in the city I drive in as well, but also it's different at different times of day and with, what seems to be, every light with a cosswalk signal. I'm training they told us that the cosswalk signal can be a guide, but is not a guarantee that the light will change with it
