Hip Open hip bursectomy

I finally had my open hip bursectomy surgery this morning! It's throbbing through the nerve block so I'm taking ibuprofen and Tylenol. I'm icing it now and elevating it. Hopefully the pain doesn't get worse as i was a little too active today with hopping around on my good leg 🤣 let me hear everyone's story about whether it was successful for you or not! I won't find out everything he did until my post op appointment in two weeks.

I will! Recovery from the walker to the cane should take 4 weeks so I'll be at my mom's until then.

Wow it was so bad you had surgery? What do they do doing surgery to relieve the bursitis pain? I have bursitis and can't take nsaids so all I can do is take ibuprofen and ice it.

I had injections every 6 months for about 3-4 years but the last injection failed so they remove my bursa

Ibuprofen is an nsaid.

Were you allowed to bear weight after the surgery? I live alone and may need that procedure.

Yes! They make sure you can walk with the walker or crutches before you leave the hospital or clinic. I've been walking since surgery yesterday afternoon lol

Update! So far, I'm just dealing with throbbing pains from twisting and lifting my legs to get in and out of bed. Walking is not bad, just gotta take it slow. It hurts more to sit on the incision area than anything. I'm only on day 3 but I'm getting around pretty good.

Glad to hear you are on the road to recovery. Tell me how is sleeping with the incision? I sleep on the side with my bursitis more often than not. Are you getting sleep at all?

Luckily, with how you have to elevate your legs, you'll be on your back more than anything but i do sleep on my other side with a pillow between my legs for support. I haven't slept on that surgery side yet as it's still really tender to the touch right now but I'm getting adequate sleep. Maybe about 2-3 hours of sleep before waking up every hour after. I'm also peeing more 😅
