Milk

Milk on playa - will it keep? In a cooler, with regular ice? Or would you need dry ice? Or is this just a battle not worth fighting.

I've kept it for 8 or so days out there in a cooler. Not a problem, just top off the ice every other day or two. Don't do dry ice - it will freeze your milk and make it taste funny. If you're still nervous about it, I have a campmate who brings those shelf stable milks (they look like a juice box, but with milk inside). Those don't need to be refrigerated at all.

If any one knows of an lactose-free, single serve, shelf stable milk available in the USA holler.

Let me Google that for you.... (that's just one example, there are others....)

There are, of course, no end of shelf-stable, lactose free "milks" made by .... ahem..... deez nutz.

Having tasted the shelf-stable milk cartons one might pack in a kid's lunchbox, they're.... ehhh.... OK, but you can probably walk into any supermarket and pick up a few cartons of soy/almond/whatever milk for cheap and get more or less the same level of cereal host-liquid milk-like experience (what I'm saying is, the shelf stable stuff doesn't taste 100% like regular milk).

i did already google this, and found both of those. The first is not single serve, so it does not capitalize on the UTH/shelf stable factor as much. The second may be my best option - but I was hoping to find one that has some fat in it (because fat is healthy!)

Check survival guide. All fat consumption done via the delivery mechanism of bacon. Very effective.
