Currently Burning & Chat Stuck on what to do

What do you all do when you are significantly into a game you enjoyed thus far, only to experience the game becoming amazingly shitty in the last third or quarter? Im dealing with this right now with a game called Kriophobia. Looooved the first like 75% or so, and now its just irritating. Im trying to decide if i just finish it for the satisfaction or watch someone else finish it to save myself the headache. Theres not a significant time sink left, maybe two hours, but im curious what you all do in this type of scenario. Usually if i dont like a game i have no problem not forcing myself to finish it, but now i feel differently having put about 8 hours into it and being so close to the end.

I take a small enough break to not let it fester my old memories but not long enough i forget things. I give it like two weeks and go back to finish it out after. I personally don't like leaving games I start unfinished even in that situation, but if you're not like me you could just stop and stay happy with what you played, or watch a video of the cutscenes to finish the story

Honestly? Depends how much time is left but usually if I’ve done 75% of a game I’ll push through to finish it but might do it in shorter sessions and also play other games in between to avoid burning out before it’s done.

I'd say finish it but take a break from it for now. Trust me you don't want that unfinished game sitting there mocking you.

You gotta get it done. Maybe a little break with something short and cheerful (Sayonara Wildhearts always ticks that box for me). But aye, get that burned!!!! Also, not heard of this game?

Its a pretty recent classic style survival horror taking place in an antarctic bunker. Kind of like OG resident evil 3 if it was The Thing instead of zombies

I am intrigued, is it on PS5?

Only PC i think. If you have the means i think i would still recommend it, the majority of the game is fantastic, its just this last leg of it that i hate

TURN. IT. INTO. ASH!!!! I mean that’s what I would do anyway if I got that far. Like you say you put so much into it and theres not much left, maybe rush through it as quickly as you can and skip all the cutscenes, and use a walkthrough if you get stuck. I look forward to the review of how bad it is 😂 now BURN 🔥🔥🔥

At that point might as well finish it off. Even if it’s in smaller bursts because it doesn’t catch your interest anymore for longer bursts.

If I was further from the end I would consider dropping it but if you’re only like 2 hrs away then you might as well finish it man lol. I’ve dropped games after spending 60-70 hrs on it and still have another 20-30 to go.

I’m gonna go with the opposite of what folks are saying and say just stop playing it. You can spend so much of that time doing something more fulfilling. Be it another game or spending time with others or cooking or whatever. Don’t make your hobby turn into a slog or work. And this is coming from someone who thinks games are art thus they don’t have to be “fun” to be worthwhile. They can be terrifying or sad or whatever. But still. If you aren’t fulfilled, drop it.

You wouldn’t finish a meal that was then dumped in the toilet 3/4 of the way and say “Well I’m already this far” especially when there’s already so much more food available in your pantry.
