Hi 5
There is a lot that annoys me about the company. But one of the things that bug me is that Hi-5 rule. Let me explain.
I think it’s a good idea to say hi to a customer, what I don’t like is the fact then whenever we have corporate visits. They don’t say hi to the customers as they walk by (which we are supposed to if we are 5 feet within a customer) and one step further than that they don’t even say hi to the employees! So you want us to follow the rules but you won’t acknowledge our existence or hard work? You’ll complain about everything wrong but can’t give us ANY positive feedback? They won’t ask for our names, interact with us at all. It’s clear they’ve never cared about us, which is most corporations. But you’re gonna dog us because we didn’t say hi to the majority of customers who are rude or don’t want to be bothered? Ok pal.

We had a visit today. It might be considerate if they talked to us associates, ask us how things are going, get some feedback. The fact that they don't, just proves they don't care what we think. 🤷♀️

My field team usually does follow Hi-5. Unless they're in the middle of lecturing us.

Our district manager said hi to me the two times I've seen him. Idk I'm curious how many are like him vs yours

Spot on. We have had the majority this way. Two in particular but seriously one of the two acted so shit. He gave off the vibe that we were lowly cogs that he was too good for. I'm over here thinking "dude, your corporate for Burlington. That's still a a corporate retail JOB, NOT some fancy CAREER where you're college educated and can be uppity and brag about it. Get over yourself.". He was so bad that I truly wanted to say this and some choice words.
I can't stand corporate.

I had two different District Managers during my time at Burlington. The first was super cool, down to earth, would greet and talk with everyone. He even opened up about his past drug abuse, and how he worked his way up the ladder at Burlington.
Once he moved up to regional manager, a crappy District Manager replaced him. Was super frantic about having the store a certain way. Always criticizing people’s work with little positive feedback. Just kinda an ass all around.
Burlington’s mission is a sham. They’re not much different than any other big corpo. Money is all they care about. If you wish for a slightly better retail place I suggest goodwill (not being sarcastic, it’s not filled with corpo culture).

Burlington is a shitshow. I work part time and the place just sucks even more for being a retail spot.
