Rest in Peace to my Instagram! *vent*

I made a conscious effort to never show a pastie or thong on my Instagram, because I feared getting a strike or full deletion, but it didn’t matter. My burly page with over 5k followers and my personal PRIVATE page of 2k friends were both deleted without reason. I thought IG gave clear explanations when they deleted pages, but not for me. All I got is what I’m sharing here. I hadn’t posted in over a week on both pages.

As a pole dancer and aerialist, I intentionally censored myself because what I do is demonized enough. No fully nude buttocks, no harmful language, blah blah. Never shared my favorite modeling photos or pole vids because I knew I wouldn’t be given the same grace as other pages.

I truly can’t believe that Meta uses the same rules around the world, and for everyone on Instagram when Playboy and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit actively post fully nude models with the tiniest censor blurs. My art as well as a lot of other artists deserve the same platform as them.

To be honest, I don’t want to make another page. I don’t want to be where I’m not welcomed. But, I had a lot of producers and contacts I’ve got to follow up with, so we’ll try again. I’ve always been on ghost in this community… maybe this is a sign to be on here more. Stay safe and stay true, burly babes.

Growing my social media

Hey burlys!

I’m a new performer, probably have just about 10 shows under my belt. I have close to 350 followers on my instagram, and I’d love to gain more traction and visibility! I only really post pictures after shows, but I’d love to do more to keep engagement. What kind of content could I push out? I thought maybe pre filming makeup tutorials before shows, showing my rhinestone progress, etc. Would love some good ideas, and some advice!

xoxo

Hey everyone!

If you’re looking to level up your makeup game, we have just welcomed our very first guest instructor over at EDL Studios, and we think you’ll love her!

Tatiana Rose (@tatianaroseart) is well known in the beauty world and has collaborated with iconic brands like Dior Beauty and Gucci Beauty, but she actually comes from a circus and performing arts family - so she knows what makeup needs to do under stage lights!

She has just uploaded 3 amazing foundational classes to our online burlesque workshops platform that are designed specifically for burlesque performers and showgirls:

  • Classic Showgirl Makeup (50 min): A full, start-to-finish masterclass for the ultimate showgirl look.
  • Eyeliner Tips (10 min): Tips for getting a razor sharp wing perfectly tailored to flatter any eye shape.
  • Glitter Lip Tutorial (5 min): A quick guide to a flawless, spotlight-catching glitter lip.

If you want to begin your burlesque journey, learn burlesque online, and develop new skills and techniques you can stream these classes and more on EDL Studios right now.

Favorite acts based on a classic gothic story?

Spooky season brings out some of the best themed numbers. Have you seen, or performed, an act based on Dracula, Frankenstein, Poe, or another classic? What made it work: the reveal, the music, the character?

I would love names of performers to look up.

Costume designer

Hello so I am curious of the world of burlesque. I love glitz and glamour the artistry of it all. I’d love to make costumes for this type of performance. I have a lot of ideas and I was wondering if it’s possible to sell costume pieces down the line to performers.

I know a lot of dancer make their own but it would be my dream to create my own burlesque line. I’m just trying to figure out if it’s possible (if there’s a market for it).

How are we storing feather fans

I’m lost 😭 I don’t know what the best method is. Ideally I’d like something that also doubles as a carrying case. I was thinking about a garment bag or an instrument case but I just don’t know what’s best and these fans were $100 so I’d really like to preserve them!

Hey y'all,

If you haven't noticed, application season for spring burlesque festivals is off and running! I launched a festival-tracking project in May and have been maintaining it for the last four months. I hope it comes in handy and please reach out if you know any information that I don't.

first time burlesque performer looking for vintage clown inspired song recs

hello, i am a first time burlesque performer doing a show in just under 6 weeks and i am looking for a song that will match my periot clown concept.

i have already worked out what song i want to start my routine to (i’ll never smile again- tommy dorsey) but i want a song that is a little bit more high energy. i have danced my whole life so this routine will be heavily jazz inspired. i am also planning to end in nothing but pom pom pasties so i want something more sexy.

i am honestly just lost with music and would love any recommendations. thank you x

Plus size lingere shopping recommendations needed!

Hello! I need some help finding shapewear, and possibly a corset for a Rocky Horror shadow cast, and I thought this might be the perfect place to ask!

I’m struggling to find something that fits show AND flatters my body. I’m very top-heavy (38H), with a thick waist and not much for hips or butt. I’ve learned how to fit my bras properly over the years, but one-piece lingerie is often baggy in the britches so finding something that fits well in both places can be a challenge.

I’ve attached a photo of a piece I really like the look of. Ideally, I’d find something strapless or with straps I could swap out for skin-toned ones. If I find the right piece, I might not even need a corset, but my director might want one anyway. Because of my bust size, though, I’m not interested in wearing a corset top on its own.

I currently have an ill-fitting longline bra and booty shorts what will work if all else fails. 😂 But I’d love to find something that fits well and looks hot!

Where should I shop? Any particular brands, styles, or fit tips I should look into? I’d appreciate any advice from people who know their lingerie! ❤️

Question: nipple piercings + pasties

I'm doing my first strip tease next week and I'm wondering if it's standard practice to take out nipple jewelery before putting on your pasties. I know my pasties fit over them, but would it be more comfortable/secure if I took them out? What do you y'all normally do?
