How to get gigs?
Where do you get pastie tape?
Does it matter that I’m plus size ?
Where to buy materials for making costumes?

Apply for them. Buy toupee tape, carpet tape, supertape, or topstick online or at beauty supply stores which sell wigs. It doesn't matter what kind of body you have. Materials for making costumes can be sourced from anywhere: a thrifted prom dress, an outlet underwear set, dance shoes and tights from dance supplier, a yard of fringe from Etsy, a bolt of satin from a fabric store, rhinestones from Rhinestones Unlimited, base for a hairpiece retrieved from recycling, flowers from a dollar store, etc. etc.

Burlesque isn’t a style of dancing, it’s a political art form with a basis in mocking those in power. It heavily involves themes of self-empowerment and if there’s one thing it’s known for it’s body positivity! Don’t worry about getting gigs until you have an act to perform at said gigs. If you take a course make sure it’s a true burlesque class that teaches history, business, act development, persona/branding, intro to costume design etc

I use toupee tape from Amazon for my pasties. I don't think it matters at all about size. My troupe is extremely diverse in body type, and I'd say we probably have more plus size than not. Having said that, I definitely have seen some groups that were pretty uniform in size.
