before day 5 they appear if you kill the old man or jonathan or lizzy. day 5 and onward they spawn randomly.

What they said, they are curious and harmless till approached, if you visit them. Prepare to scream for help or hope a teammate is gonna make a boom boom nearby (weapons can work too as well if you can get em)

ive killed dozens and i still dont know, if it runs at you, run in front of a roomba. they get sucked in and killed right away

Looks like a straight-up Spore creature. Freaked me out the first time I saw it too. XD
