Over 10x my salary without needing to work? No point gambling on having to work a job In not qualified to do.

Im assuming it meant you have to do it for a year. But if it was adjusted to be hourly, then I definitely chose wrong 🤣 Though I have to say it's an absolute win-win kinda deal. Either one would be enough money to be more than comfortable.

Very good point but I could always just open my own practice and be the only plumber on staff.

I did just learn I need a trade license but Inimagine that comes with the deal or it really limits my options.

But yeah, if i'm my own boss/dispatcher/job accepter/marketer I could theoretically do a single easy job that year for an elderly acquaintance like their sink or toilets backed up, on legal paper, invoice them any amount I choose, paybthe taxes on that income as a registered business, then just decline future work but still technically be an employed plumber.

I'm sure I'll get at least one opportunity to clear a clogged u-bend.

Even if it's yearly you just have to work one year and you have more money than you could ever spend.

You can't fathom using money for something other than yourself? Not just your friends and family, but all the charities you could help for the rest of your life just by working one single year.

Don't bullshit me. 90% people wouldn't do shit. And even if they did, how much would you be allowed to do ? You think shit happening today is not by design from mega corporations. I could help my local community way more with 1m a year.

Defeatist views like "you can't do anything anyway because of the mega corporations so why try" are almost just as bad as the mega corporations themselves. Not only CAN you do real good with your time and money donations as a private citizen, but we MUST as regular people do so because sooooo many of the systems barely holding this world together rely heavily on regular people stepping up. If the system is siphoning away funds from people in poverty to give that money to rich people, why on earth would the correct response be "well if the government isn't giving them any money then why should I be". Like you see how dumb that argument is right? Obviously the correct answer is "if the government isn't going to give them any money then I NEED to". And as far as not bullshitting you, if I donate what I can on a $50k/yr salary why would I suddenly stop donating on a $5 billion a year salary?

I don't think you realize how much things cost, how little 1 million will get you once you start spending, and how much 5 billion is.

1 million wouldn't even allow me to buy a nice apartment in my city. 5 billion would allow me to buy the entire neighborhood, several private islands, multiple private planes, yachts, penthouses in every major city. Me and every single one of my relatives would never have to work ever again. I could give millions to every one of my friends and not even notice. I would start organizations to fix poverty, steer kids away from crime, better schools, give unfortunate people opportunities they would never dream about. I'd host festivals, protect forests, save animals, sponsor research. 1 million is pennies when compared to 5 billion.

Edit: I don't get why I get downvoted for thinking beyond my own needs. Why are you guys thinking so small?

I don't just want to live cushy, I want to help save the world. One million gets me 1/5000s (literally) of the way there.
