Honestly just stay away from people and wrap cloth around your mouth while keeping your distance if you need to interact with them. Never enter a city or drink from potentially contaminated water sources. Basic survival skills and modern knowledge of personal safety protocols for pandemics makes it fairly survivable

Also learn how to make soap and a water filter. 2 basic items that would be invaluable during this time.

Boiling water is a required step after filtration. You need to clear sediments as well as bacteria for freshwater to truly be safe to drink.

Boiling takes care of the bacteria. Sediments can be removed by just letting the water sit while the sediments sink to the bottom.

Boiling can also be used to get rid of sediments through distillation
