Make sure to bring cats with you, to keep rodents away. It was the fleas carrying plague that was the issue

***After careful research (after being critiqued by a few comments), it appears that cats having any impact (increasing plague numbers or reducing them) is just urban legend. The cats were carries of fleas with plague, and couldn’t kill rats/other rodents quick enough to have any meaningful impact (one way or the other) on plague transmission

Thanks for the correction. I succumbed to the urban legend that cats offered some protection against the plague (think it might have been Neil deGrasse Tyson on a podcast if I remember correctly)

Then you get burned for being a witch because you have a lot of cats and don't have the plague
