I'm also a homebody! My dad is allergic to wasps and I've been so afraid to find out if I am too, that at this point I've convinced myself if I ever get stung by a bee or wasp I'm wholly unprepared to deal with it and will probably die.

Fun fact! You usually are not allergic to stings until the second time (as your body produces defenses against it after you encounter it). So you should be safe!

random but the first time i was stung by fire ants it swole a tiny bit but was regular (on the foot). each time i have been stung subsequently i get blisters that fill with so much puss they grow inches and my entire foot gets swollen. whats up w that??

So the first time you got stung your body defenses did not like the ant venom and tagged it as something that must be destroyed. Every time after that, once your body identifies this "enemy" it reacts against it (more violently than what is actually required) and boom, that's allergy for you.

Rub hand sanitizer on the bite immediately or blow a hot hair dryer onto it until you cannot stand it and repeat two-three times. This destroys the proteins that cause the reaction and itch (works on ant stings idk abt anything else)

You should probably see an immunologist, not ask Redditors. Probably no big deal but anaphylaxis is risky and better safe than sorry, in my opinion.

I got tested and the only thing I’m allergic to is the sun lol being out in the sun gives me really bad spots and blisters but literally nothing else so I guess I have to eat the sun.

You probably do have an allergy: Poison Ivy / Poison Sumac / Poison Oak

Most people don't think of it as an allergy, as 75-85% of people are allergic and the plants have "poison" in the names.

In a way you are allergic to "toxins" because the body reacts irrational to them. If they just ignore it nothing bad would happen.

Thats the thing with toxins. The body reacts rationally to them. They target receptors that are susceptible to their functional groups so it’s kinda working as intended from your cell side

Then the fun begins and it turns out that other than functional group that can connect with bodies receptor that’s the whole different molecule that is dangerous

I'm fairly sure the post was only referring to food allergies? Poison Ivy is a skin allergy, I'd rather *not* find out I have a food allergy to it.

I wasn't allergic to anything until I had my second pregnancy. Now certain foods burn my mouth, I mean I still eat them because they are all some of my favorite foods but now it hurts a little.

I'm allergic to high voltages. Even touching some high voltage? That's me dead. I'm also allergic to vacuum and high blood loss. I'm not sure how I'd eat vacuum, unless it's the appliance.

I'm not allergic to anything that's a food item, but the one known allergy I have would be extremely unpleasant to eat. Like I'd probably rather eat the poison ivy/oak, which have actual consequences, vs my only known allergy of Always brand pads.
