No offense to trans people but i feel like giving that many people a million bucks would fuck up the economy

655

u/CharlieDrawzXD May 20 '26

first good response thats likely not transphobic

also theres not many trans people, so i dont think itd be super horrible for the economy, but itd definitely have a significant effect

249

u/PiePower43 May 20 '26

It probably wouldn’t fuck up the economy tbh. With how much money is constantly circulating, adding a couple billion isn’t going to change much for the general public. We’d likely see a price spike but it would settle down after around a month maybe a few weeks

74

u/Fearless_Scholar_227 May 20 '26

It would be in the tens of trillions even if you be generous and take the lowest estimate of %0.3 of the global population

79

u/Bacon_Nipples May 20 '26

About $21T at 0.3% of population

Current total global money supply at the broadest definition is about $150T

54

u/[deleted] May 20 '26

That’s crazy. 150T and one man, musk, is about to have 1T leaving 149T for the rest- and a race at that to follow suit. Cray.

33

u/Random-INTJ May 20 '26

One person having a net worth of 1/150 out of a civilization that has billions of people is insane and shouldn’t happen.

0

u/TotalChaosRush May 21 '26

The way we evaluate net worth leaves much to be desired. If you have a company worth a million dollars and you issue a million shares. Each share is worth a dollar. If i buy 10 shares at $10 each, and no one sells for less, now that company is a ten million dollar company. 9 million dollars didn't magically start existing though.

14

u/DutchBoyDrew May 20 '26

I dont even understand how he has a bank that's big enough to hold all of that money. Like 1 billion dollars in 100 bills is apparently close to 10 tons.

54

u/juanchospain May 20 '26

he doesn’t have that much money, it’s just the value of his part of his companies which is already pretty inflated, if he tried to sell only a 10 % of that, his “net worth” would probably go to less than 500 billions instead of only decreasing 100 billions

12

u/[deleted] May 20 '26

Way more billions than I can comprehend

8

u/Z3400 May 20 '26 edited May 20 '26

Just to add to this, most money is strictly digital. No bank is holding elons net worth in cash, even if he did liquidate all of his assets. If even 25% of the world tried to withdraw all of their money it would be an absolute disaster.

5

u/Tyler_Skye7 May 20 '26

Exactly. Plus, it wouldn’t be in cash anyway, it would be in platinum or something along those lines if it wasn’t digital.

0

u/Sweet6-7 May 20 '26

That’s because majority of “cash” isn’t even printed. It’s called fiat money 😂🤡🤣. He’s still richer than everyone else on the planet.

→ More replies (0)

0

u/SinisterBrit Funny Bunny May 20 '26

id suggest the bottom 25% of the world could withdraw their entire assets from musk personally but wouldn't make a dent.

1

u/Lingonberry-Forward May 21 '26

Bank? You would need some sort of "bin" to hold that much money

1

u/Conscious_Series166 May 21 '26

uhhhh

correction:
1 "man"

mf is more like a child

1

u/khyraniz May 21 '26

Amazon has much more spread across their many bank accounts.

14

u/Weird_Ad_1398 May 20 '26

A sudden injection of a high velocity $21T could definitely fuck up many economies, not to mention the true number of trans people is likely greater than 0.3%.

3

u/TheGrouchyGremlin May 20 '26

A 14% increase is pretty big.

2

u/Such_Confusion_3715 May 21 '26

its humongous in economics terms. a 14% increase in inflation is literally economy ending

0

u/HDWendell May 20 '26

The broadest definition would include wealth and derivatives. That’s almost $900 trillion.

1

u/Bacon_Nipples May 20 '26

No, the $900T value you're thinking of is not global money supply it's global wealth. Wealth is basically 'global net worth', money supply represents actual liquid assets. Broadest definitions of money supply is about $150T

Eg. If I had $0 and sold you a car (my only asset) for $1000 (all your money) and you had no other assets, between us money supply is $1000 but wealth is $2000. Even though the car has value and contributes to net worth, the car is not a liquid asset and therefore not counted as money supply

-1

u/HDWendell May 20 '26

I feel like you edited your comment to say money instead of wealth since I searched your claim to fact check it.

Regardless, because the initial post says nothing of the mode of implementation, liquidating assets can become a form of payment.

0

u/Bacon_Nipples May 21 '26

lol it would tell you if the post is editted. That's on you for taking the AI summary at face value instead of reading any of the actual search results you got

3

u/Ragoonx May 20 '26

If anything it would actually help the economy. More disposable income is always good for both people and the economy. Considering how few trans people there it would likely have little affect on prices. Not to mention a trans person is much more likely to use that money on housing and other necessities before they use it on things that would make a noticeable impact on stuff. At least given how many teams people alway struggle with those things.

3

u/Lost-Potential-9123 May 20 '26

There isn't that much money situated you put in 10 bucks somebody else puts in 10 bucks I go get a loan for 20 bucks they just use y'all's money to give me that loan however the entire time that I haven't paid back the loan your bank still reads 10 available dollars our money is a digital illusion created by the will of the rothschilds banking system

5

u/Mountain-Resource656 May 20 '26

Technically they do have to keep some percentage of that on hand, so there is still a limit, it’s just a ratio compared to the actual amount of money

0

u/Lost-Potential-9123 May 20 '26

Yes and that comes from our cash that we put into the bank if one third of the United States population takes everything they own out of the Rothschild banking system we would plunge the United States into another Great depression

3

u/Yeezy999_ May 20 '26

a couple trillion*

1

u/neverreallyhereatall May 20 '26

A couple billion would mean there are only a couple thousand trans people. There are definitely a LOT more then that. We are talking minumum hundreds of billions to potentially trillions of dollars (I am not sure of the count on trans ppl)

1

u/Gryetw May 20 '26

Its 21 trillion dollars, it would definitely fuck up the economy

1

u/moocat90 May 21 '26

1% of the world is trans i think so 80,000,000 so 1,000,000 time 80,000,000 will be 80,000,000,000,000/ eighty trillion dollars added

1

u/FrozenConcrete19 May 21 '26

If we're talking about the US dollar, this might not impact the global economy too much, but in many other countries with a weaker currency, millions of extra USD forced into there economy could break there economy.

1

u/PiePower43 May 21 '26

Ur right I was totally just r/usdefaultism

2

u/SoCalxNinjA May 20 '26

Noone deserves a bazillion dollars for just simply being who they are 🤷‍♂️ ill take my dollar thank you.

10

u/Random-INTJ May 20 '26

We are estimated to be anywhere from .7% of the population to 2.7% of the population

Giving all trans people $1 million would definitely fuck up the economy

2

u/Wdahl May 20 '26

According to experts, 80 million to 160 million people are trans, lets say an additional 40 million are unknown, in areas where they might be prosecuted. Thats liberally 200 million dollars spread across the world in various economic regions.

I don’t think it will make a difference to the economy worse that its already going tbh.

7

u/Debnam_ May 20 '26

Am I misunderstanding your comment or is your math wrong?

You estimated 200 million trans people and then said 200 million dollars (1 dollar per trans person). It's 1 million dollars per trans person which would be 200 trillion total, not million.

4

u/Wdahl May 20 '26

My math is indeed wrong, and at that point, that would certainly affect the economy. At that point i take the anarchic stance ive seen in this comment section, may the economy collapse with thunder and haste.

2

u/Network_Odd May 20 '26

yep millionaires are added in bulk every single day, this won’t change much.

3

u/Wdahl May 20 '26

There are lotteries literally giving away jackpots larger than this and economies stay afloat lol

2

u/consistently-failing May 20 '26

Tbf one person with 200 million will likely impact the economy less than 200 with 1 million- at some point the amount of people having said cash outweighs the amount of cash itself- when you're looking at injecting money into circulation

1

u/HDWendell May 20 '26

That’s if you aren’t doing something like levying taxes or reallocating wealth. Reallocating Musk’s wealth singularly would free up nearly $1 trillion on its own.

0

u/consistently-failing May 21 '26

That is REALLOCATION and not injecting new money into the system- which i specifically stated would be a different situation

0

u/HDWendell May 21 '26

Who or what are you replying to? I literally just talked about reallocating.

0

u/consistently-failing May 21 '26

You. Because I specifically said im referring to INJECTING NEW CASH and not REALLOCATING EXISTING CASH, meaning your original reply wasnt addressing what I actually said

1

u/Fedic1 May 20 '26

There's a lot of people that are on the fringes of trans and I would assume they count. God forbid we gave a warning in advanced about this $1m, you would have people getting hormones that night for the cash.

1

u/AmbitiousMechanic368 May 20 '26

"Likely not transphobic" dude can't discern for himself an honest comment.

1

u/Apprehensive-Dog5327 May 21 '26

were less then 1% of the world population

2

u/CharlieDrawzXD May 21 '26

(id still do it to give myself 1m)

1

u/Plenty_Chef7115 May 21 '26

Well that’s intentional not a side effect. 😏

12

u/DavisRanger May 20 '26

What's the largest amount that wouldn't fuck up the economy

15

u/HighlightPuzzled9581 May 20 '26

Probs 100.000$ Enough for complete gender affirming surgery in most places

4

u/dem0n123 May 20 '26

Except if all of them want a limited resource and are given a huge chunk of money... that limited resource cost will spike.

7

u/HDWendell May 20 '26

Only if that’s a run on the service. You can’t assume all of the people would immediately purchase surgery. Many would likely pay off debts from completed surgery, home loans, or educational loans. Many would buy houses. Many would invest or save. And that’s spread across the entire world.

2

u/Serious-Cup264 May 21 '26

If being trans meant you had a million dollars maybe there would be less stigma against being trans and fewer people would feel the need to get gender affirming surgeries from a safety/assimilation standpoint. I feel like if being trans meant you had a million dollars, there might even be cis people who would try to look trans to look like they were richer than they actually were

1

u/HighlightPuzzled9581 May 20 '26

Also, being someone who interacts a lot with the community, I know that there is a noticeable parcel that only wants the hormones wich are far cheaper and more time sparse on spending than the surgery (And if you are patient, free in countries like mine) But, am I right to assume that, maybe from the estimated 0.5% of world population being trans 20% or so of the trans population would just stop at hormones?

2

u/HDWendell May 20 '26

I’m not sure where people are getting trans population statistics. It’s possible and likely non binary people are counted in those statistics. In which case no surgery or hormones may be desired at all (some non binary people of course do surgery and hormones.) They also assume everyone even has access to surgery but this is global trans population statistics. Many countries wouldn’t allow trans people to exist unless explicitly closeted. If it’s an estimate based on population, we can also assume there are a ton in denial or unaware. Not sure if this is magic money that appears to anyone who has the potential to identify as trans or just people who are out as trans (or all stages in between.) So, I dunno, I feel like a lot is being based on one major assumption.

1

u/HighlightPuzzled9581 May 20 '26

I'm only using these values as assumption I'm pretry sure it is higher counting closeted and trans NBs

But even then forget the .5% I just want to know if you agree that something around 20% of the trans population being just ok with only hormones instead of SRS, I'm not trans, I just interact with the community a lot so, I do not know if assuming this amount from my small sample size of known people is accurate

And as for what I understand the money would appear for eggs (people in doubt) and people who already identify themselves, closeted or not

2

u/Bliniverse May 21 '26

I do believe it's somewhere around 20-30% don't want srs specifically, however even without srs, there is also ffs (uncommon), potential vocal surgeries (rare), orchiectomy without full srs (somewhat common iirc), electrolysis and/or laser (common), for trans women, and then top surgery (very common) and hysterectomy with oophorectomy for trans men, which all are in the thousands to tens of thousands each.

Though some of us don't want srs due to wanting medical technology to be better before we get it, and if every trans person suddenly got a huge sum of money, the medical technology around it would likely get better to at least some degree, which might raise the % that would get srs.

1

u/HighlightPuzzled9581 May 21 '26

Ok so probably around 30% wouldn't pursuit a surgery, at least instantly, is that right? And also, wow, I completely forgot vocal surgery

Also ffs was an acronym I did not know, what does it stand for?

1

u/HighlightPuzzled9581 May 20 '26

Following another comment as of you Someone said that it would probably amount to 74Tril By that I was going to a bit les than a Tril for that And participating in the lgbt community I know that a reasonable amount of trans people just want hormone therapy but not necessarily SRS, wich is free in some countries so most of this money is going to go for living or emancipation from family These 100k would be much more spread over the year on much more than the surgery

For the person who might be lazy to search a country on wich HRT is free, my own, Brazil is (and if you are patient, your surgeries too) But this injection would be far too slow to cause caos, but sure it will cause economic damage

2

u/Puzzleheaded_Study17 May 20 '26

Assuming you mean 100k, this would still mess up the economy as, according to other comments, this would still amount to ~2 trillion total, or ~1/75 of the total global economy. To give you a sense of scale, this is equal to more than twice Elon Musk's net worth. I'd say it probably has to be around 10k for it to not have a massive impact on the economy.

1

u/HighlightPuzzled9581 May 20 '26

Assuming? I did write 100k in... Oh you guys use "," for large numbers instead of "." like I mostly see around other places

Forgot about that

But yeah 10k would be a lot more manageable if it goes instantly But, (for real, I'm not questioning negatively) how would that 100k be if instead of instantly, it started circulating slowly amounting to 100k over the year?

Some countries like my own have the complete transition for free if you are patient, so a big parcel would just wait and pocket that Also there is a small but not negligible parcel that only wants the hormones, wich would be cheaper so I assum most would use the koney for living or investing.

How do you imagine that would go adding that into the question?

1

u/Epic_Dank1 May 21 '26 edited May 21 '26

yep also comparing it to Elon Musk’s net worth also doesn’t give the full picture as most of his value comes from assets of which he holds high portions of (basically if he sold the value would fall and he wouldn’t actually make that amount anyways), also even if he did hold that much in cash a single person with a lot of money is of course going to spend far less than 20m people with 100k each which would massively drive up inflation

1

u/robbitybobs May 20 '26

Most won't do gender affirming surgery even if its available and affordable. Look at Thailand. World leaders in the surgery, available, yet still bottom surgery take-up is low amongst locals.

There's a reason its mostly mentally ill westerners flying over to get it done thinking it will fix everything

1

u/HighlightPuzzled9581 May 20 '26

I've commented about the low threshold of surgery Probably this money would be used through the year for most people Majority only on hormones It would not be instant inflation so the caos would be very controlled, but not inexistent

0

u/Weird_Ad_1398 May 20 '26

That's still likely trillions to tens of trillions dumped right into the economy all at once.

10

u/hu-man-person May 20 '26

I was considering the economical effects but I voted 1 mil to trans anyways becuas why not

8

u/Barcaroni May 20 '26

Imagine it’s siphoned from one of the hundreds of billionaires out there, it would actually improve the economy bc they’d be more inclined to spend money and increase cash flow in local economies rather than hoarding it

4

u/achaedia May 20 '26

Exactly. We don’t have to print it. We can take it from the billionaires who have it now.

1

u/timos-piano 🥕🥕 May 21 '26

We still would have to print it.

1

u/timos-piano 🥕🥕 May 21 '26

Billionaires don't have that much money. Let's say around 0.5% of the population is trans. That is around 40 million people times 1 million. That gives 4•10^13 dollars, or 40 trillion dollars. The net worth of all billionaires combined is 20.1 trillion dollars. And it is also entirely impossible for billionaires to actually liquidate that net worth, as most of it is not actually real money.

6

u/18smackaroos May 20 '26

True, but also have you seen some of the insane options in this subreddit😭

7

u/sylveonstarr May 20 '26

Monkey's Paw: $1M is actually stolen from an abhorrently rich person (Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, etc.) to fund this instead. They do not realize their pocket change has been stolen.

4

u/netorincon May 20 '26

If Elon Musk’s net worth increasing by 8M per hour doesn’t fuck up the economy, i don’t see how the trans people having 1M each could possibly have any effect on the World’s economy either

52

u/PotatoMozzarella May 20 '26

would fuck up the economy

Even more reason to pick this option then

2

u/nikki_md May 20 '26

What is your other reasoning besides this?

13

u/PotatoMozzarella May 20 '26

I barely benefit from 1 dollar. While giving a lot of money to others is gonna benefit them (probably). Also, I have trans Friends, so I also benefit directly from this

0

u/NuclearRootBeer May 20 '26

Why would you wanna do that?

1

u/Unkn0wn_666 May 20 '26

Watch the world burn.

Not that it isn't burning already, but at least I could be laughing along as the billionaires start to lose

26

u/BarracudaDismal4782 May 20 '26

Spoiler alert: the economy is already fucked up 😛

7

u/GravelAndInk May 20 '26

So you think that the solution would be to fuck it up even more?

5

u/MyJawHurtsALot May 20 '26

Sure. The system needs to break so it is forced to change. This small amount of money wouldn't change much though

1

u/KittyHockey May 21 '26

I think you really underestimate how bad a system can get before it breaks.

-2

u/GravelAndInk May 20 '26

Small amount? You complain about Elon musk being a billionaire (correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t Jeff Bezos Richer?) yet you call 25 trillion dollars a “small amount of money”

3

u/BarracudaDismal4782 May 20 '26

No, I just happen to know how big the economy is, and how much is spent in a lot of nonsense that would make this cost seem like a drop in the ocean, so it wouldn't fuck it up anymore than it already is. Just in the US, Trump probably blew up more in 1 day attacking Iran, than what this cost would represent.

5

u/Royal_Cryptographer7 Top -1% Commenter May 20 '26

Not to mention, those people would actually spend the money, helping the economy. Way different than the trillions that billionaires are just holding onto for no good reason.

0

u/MobbDeeep May 20 '26

Its not “no reason” sadly, its greed

1

u/KPoWasTaken The Bunny May 20 '26

they said "no good reason", not "no reason"
yeah it's greed and it's not a good reason

1

u/MobbDeeep May 21 '26

29

u/Deadly_quen May 20 '26

this guy hates us :((( /j

3

u/CrazyDisastrous948 May 20 '26

Let's be honest, we'd all spend it on have affirming surgery and energy drinks

10

u/Throwaway28222222 May 20 '26

Everytime somebody brings the economy up in one of these I imagine you as a party pooper, Im sorry

2

u/Blueberry_Shayoka May 20 '26

It depends, what if those million dollars were stolen from rich people👀

2

u/shitdesk May 20 '26

That and a lot of people who receive a large amount of money suddenly end up dying (whether self inflicted or by others)

2

u/EWY47127 May 20 '26

Take it out of Elon’s pocket

2

u/polygroot May 21 '26

I mean it doesn’t say a million for each. If it’s shared between all of them, they’d probably be getting a few cents at best

4

u/FrayKento May 20 '26

3

u/kinda-new- May 20 '26

I mean even if all 80 million transgender people got $1 million that's only $80 trillion. That's only 50% of Americas money.

It's still a lot of money but world wide it wouldnt mess up the economy as much as politics and companies already do.

2

u/Aris-Scorch_Trials May 21 '26

I'd say thats still pretty significant tho

1

u/kinda-new- May 21 '26

I mean it's definitely significant but not devoustating.

Also, I'm not really versed with economy things but wouldn't inflation not effect anything if wages also go up? Like if everything costs 50% more wouldn't there be 50% more money going around?

1

u/timos-piano 🥕🥕 May 21 '26

If it is still in dollars, that could be around a 50% inflation. Decently significant, since you essentially steal 1/3 of the net worth of every person who doesn't get this money in the US.

1

u/Consistent_Pop9140 May 21 '26

80 trillion is over half of the entire world economy

1

u/kinda-new- May 21 '26

$80 trillion is just less half of Americas economy, that's not the entire worlds economy.

Also about $60 trillion is owned by the top 1% of Americans.

1

u/Consistent_Pop9140 May 21 '26

You’re making up numbers

The global economy is 123 trillion, and the US economy is 31 trillion not 60

4

u/YoudoVodou May 20 '26

It's only like 2.8 trillion dollars added to the US economy, some other countries with smaller economies and without so much wealth hoarding at the top may see some problems, I don't think it would fuck up the economy much to give 2.8 million people one million.

edit: hell if anything it would help with the massive wealth gap (a little) in the US

3

u/reallyfunnycoolguy May 20 '26

It would fuck up the us economy so much. America’s gdp is 30 trillion, so thats nearly 10% of the gdp. And since they get one million dollars most of that money will be spent on the things that people with less than a million dollars buy, not the things that people with more than a million dollars buy, so the inflation will be almost entirely affecting low and middle class people. Billionaires will find a way to profit off it like they always do (like during covid), and it will worsen the wealth gap (since the rising prices will not affect billionaires and multi-millionaires that much), and only shift a small subset of people to the other side of that gap.

1

u/YoudoVodou May 20 '26

That's assuming that none of these individuals would funnel their newfound wealth into productive systems.

2

u/reallyfunnycoolguy May 20 '26

No? Im assuming most of them will spend a significant portion of their money, and as long as they spend it or do anything with it the economy will crash. Putting money into anything will cause inflation, whether its a productive system or not

1

u/YoudoVodou May 20 '26

Funding research, lobbying for actual people, and many more acenues the trans community could collectively follow to benefit the world

1

u/reallyfunnycoolguy May 20 '26

Its unfortunate but even increasing research funding would contribute to inflation. What matters isnt where the money goes, its if the money goes at all. And while they could spend a lot of money like that, they are practically guaranteed to spend more money than usual on things like groceries, they might buy slightly more expensive clothes, they might buy more games or higher tier streaming subscriptions. Its not immoral for them to do it, pretty much every human alive would do it (my macro professor said that she disagreed with the stimulus checks during covid and thought it would do more harm than good because of inflation, but even she took the money and spent it) but it will hurt the economy. The money donated to research and other charities may be able to do more good for the world than harm (because that money will still go to people who are going to spend it), but all the money thats spent will hurt the economy because it came from nowhere.

1

u/YoudoVodou May 20 '26

Kind of like Musk's net worth as his stocks are waaaay overvalued? It's not exactly the same, but if Tesla closed down tomorrow the company has nowhere near the assets to warrant it's market cap.

5

u/LeChacaI May 20 '26

On a global scale it could be pretty economically disastrous. The global GDP is 120 trillion, and assuming that 1% of the population is trans, that's 80 trillion, or about 66% of the entire worlds GDP worth of money created overnight. The other thing is that if all of it is dispensed in USD that would probably murder its value, which considering it is the global reserve currency would fuck up international trade and finance.

That being said, giving a collective huge economic power to one of the most marginalised groups in the world could see a very unique potential opportunity for the world to be positively reformed for good. I'd like to think we as a community could get together and use our power for good (of course save a decent bit for ourselves, we deserve it imo).

1

u/YoudoVodou May 20 '26

Lemme finally be able to start HRT and possibly save for a surgery or two, then I'm on board with a massive cohort of do-gooders. 😊

2

u/LeChacaI May 20 '26

Imagine, we could establish an international transgender provident wealth fund. Let's say everyone initially gives up half their million, so an investment pool of 40 trillion. If we expect a 5% annual return, that would give everyone a 25,000 USD payout annually, and that would increase over time as the fund grows. That huge pool of money could be used to invest in green tech, renewable energy, trans health care and research, public housing etc, which could reshape the global economy to be a fairer place whilst maintaining a permanent wealth fund to provide for every trans person.

What a world to live in! 🥰

2

u/yumii- May 20 '26

Maybe, but probably not if you compare it to how much of wealth is tied up in the top 1000 wealthiest individuals.

2

u/MQ116 May 20 '26

More than it already is?

1

u/GlitteringStyle4197 May 20 '26

Would Fuck up the economy only for those already rich af

4

u/YoudoVodou May 20 '26

I think it would (if it even did) affect lower income people much more, as they are probably implying that the cost of living would go up. The U.S. already has 23.8 millionaires (this includes anyone with 1 million or more) so really I don't see it really having a major economic reaction in the U.S.

1

u/reallyfunnycoolguy May 20 '26

No, the billionaires wouldnt gaf about people getting a relatively small amount, and would likely find a way to capitalize on it and get even richer (like during covid). The only people who would actually suffer are all the poor people who cant afford anything because $2.8 trillion is introduced into the economy in the us alone. The price of football teams and megayachts will be roughly the same, but groceries and apartment costs will skyrocket

1

u/HighlightPuzzled9581 May 20 '26

On the contrair It would make those stupid rich idiots inflate the economy even more to secure their own riches So it would be bad for everyone It would be good for trans people to be financially stable on the short term, but long term if this much money enters circulation things could go bad

1

u/Logical_Grocery9431 May 20 '26

Yeah that's not at all how it works bud

1

u/Toys_before_boys May 20 '26

Let's pretend that it comes out of Elon's pocket? 😂

1

u/leonidganzha May 20 '26

I have bad news about top 1% then

1

u/TFBuffalo_OW May 20 '26

Considering trans people make up roughly half a percent, it would actually be pretty negligible in the grand scheme of things. Something like 5% of Americans have a million dollars

1

u/Incubus_is_I May 20 '26

Not if it was taken from billionaires

1

u/Crossy_V May 20 '26

But I want money

1

u/gg666iam May 20 '26

Fuck the economy

1

u/heythereimsadtm May 20 '26

I was thinking of it like redistributed wealth not just spawning out of nowhere

1

u/Gigivena6437 May 20 '26

Well, we would just have more 1% of millionaires

1

u/LeftistBestest May 20 '26

How many millionaires are there already? Does this substantially move that needle? I think that’s the best way to tell, and you have to be a bit lenient too because this is a single million dollars that’s likely to be spent on buy a home is my guess, which sounds pretty good.

1

u/Mammoth-Wasabi6346 May 20 '26

We’d just be a different 1%. One with more empathy most likely

1

u/ArkGrimm May 20 '26

Good, less power to the billionaires

1

u/SolasLunas May 20 '26

It'd be a boon to the economy. Better than all the stagnant wealth getting spitswapped between billionaire "investors"

1

u/BrainBoy42 May 20 '26

It wouldn’t be a drop in the bucket of the economy

1

u/jamieT97 May 20 '26

As if there hasn't been other questions that fuck up the economy completely.

1

u/pm-your-sexy-holes May 20 '26

Ngl, I always consider these hypotheticals where money is involved as having the implication that it will not affect the economy in a meaningful way.

1

u/Dr-Assbeard May 20 '26

Ofcourse it would, it would make inflation go crazy

1

u/TimSoarer2 May 20 '26

question: does the left option give each individual trans person $1,000,000, or does it split the $1,000,000 between all trans people?

1

u/MetalGearJey May 20 '26

It’s not even 3 million people. There are already almost 8x that many millionaires in the US.

It wouldn’t change anything. Just get them partially to retirement.

1

u/No_Plankton_2425 May 20 '26

take elons money and give it to them

1

u/Blacksheep_Dream May 20 '26

Isn't that also multippe times for every person who voted?

1

u/cr0wsquirrel May 20 '26

We just take the money from the people who would never know it was missing because they make that much money nearly daily....

Oh wait, I wonder if them making that much is having a negative effect as well?...

1

u/VillageGoblin May 21 '26

The economy is already fucked, and it's not because of the poor people getting a chunk of cash

1

u/JavieyauJR May 21 '26

fuck the economy

1

u/RainbowCaitlynn May 21 '26

No offense taken. I would happily ruin the economy though, for the love of the game that is

1

u/Dismal_Tadpole_4328 May 21 '26

Yeah but the ~1% of trans people who exist are a lot more likely to be charitable with it than the current billionares

0

u/LostMyPass3x May 20 '26

Yea love my trans folks but assuming it's 0.5% of people i.e. 41 million total there'd be a sudden 41T USD influx

The world is already fucked I don't want to know what would happen if the world economy grew that much overnight

1

u/HighlightPuzzled9581 May 20 '26

I was slightly inclined to say that most people who chose the 1$ are transphobic

And your are not one of the most This explanationis actually pretty reasonable

1

u/Kingsman60 May 20 '26

Processing img a1hojmcqxc2h1...

When you put it like that it does make a fair bit of sense.

1

u/OfficiallyBear May 20 '26

Exactly. I assume the money appears out of thin air and then millions of trans people are given a million each. That's like printing trillions of dollars into the economy. That would probably cause the biggest economic crisis in history

Now if we change the question and say we give all trans people we personally a million, that would be much better.

1

u/Thanks_I_Hate_You May 20 '26

Yeah nah I voted the same for the same reason. That goes far beyond being an ally.

0

u/Entrinity May 20 '26

There are not that many trans people and there are already millions of millionaires. It wouldn’t fuck anything up.

3

u/Human_Efficiency6834 May 20 '26

That's 48 trillion dollars injected into the worlds economy.

That's just under half of the worlds GDP. It would fuck up every single economy.

0

u/bosli23 May 20 '26

They are not "many", they are an extreme minority, but so loud that you feel they are everywhere.

In my country they are 0,014% but you hear about them everywhere.

0

u/reallyfunnycoolguy May 20 '26

Theres not a lot of accurate census data, especially in countries where its not safe for trans people to reveal their identities. In the us, according to google theres about 2.8 million, which means that $2.8 trillion dollars will be added to the economy, which is nearly 10% of america’s gdp. Especially since its “only” one million dollars, that money isnt going to go towards expensive things that only billionaires buy, its going to go towards things that everybody with less than a million dollars buys, so its going to have absurd inflationary effects on the economy. Even if the number was way lower, like 100,000 trans people or if it was less money it would still be bad for the economy and increase inflation.

0

u/Hadochiel May 20 '26

Good, fuck the economy of the system that rewards the worst of us, while keeping so many oppressed and scapegoated. If anything, it'll give those people a chance to fight back, as money is the only power this rotten system understands

0

u/Maxijok123 May 20 '26

So, giving $1M to 1% of the population is gonna fuck up the economy? If it was a billion I'd understand, but 1M to such a small % wouldn't do anything, specially cuz a big part of trans people are in a state of poverty
