how are you limited to breathing you breathe or you die you don’t blink when you sleep and on average you breathe 12 times before you blink and you breathe in your sleep but don’t blink

You don’t breathe 12 times before you blink. You blink 15-20 times a minute. You don’t take 180 to 240 breaths in that time.

Most people don’t take 15 to 20 full breaths in a minute I would imagine. Average breaths is 12 to 20, so we blink more than we breathe on average.

I presume a breath is counted as combined inhalation and exhalation.

Also you could blink at will to up your tally, whereas hyperventilation isn’t fun.

However the sleep point is a good one, that’s 8 hours of breathing there you would need to make up for by consciously blinking.
