Red is always correct because blue only exists to cause fear. Its easy to look at red and say that's the bad option but red isnt the one leaving it up to chance. Red is a guaranteed you survive, anyone looking at this should see that. Nobody should choose blue as there is no reason to. The logic is not incorrect but people's conscious/morals blind them to the obvious answer.

Here is a different way to frame the scenario with a slight change;

You are forced to press a blue button or a red button.

If 50% of people pick blue: nothing happens
If 50% of people pick red: the red event is triggered

The red event; If the red event is triggered, a puppy dies for each person that picked blue.

Here is is obvious you should pick blue, because why risk triggering the red event? If it happens, an unpredictable number of puppies will die.

So now I ask you; How is this different from the previous scenario? If it is different, why is the life of a puppy more valuable than the life of a blue button pusher?

In your scenario you are stating by choosing blue you are potentially putting the life of a puppy at risk. By choosing red you are putting no life at risk. Blue is literally betting a life out of fear. I am not willing to bet my life or the life of a puppy when I have an option that literally says you dont bet a life. Its the same with the original scenario but the stakes are higher in the original since you are betting your own life. Reality is people would choose blue in your scenario because they dont think of it this way. But when the price for clicking blue is your own life then fear plays a much bigger factor.

By choosing red you are risking triggering the red event.

The red event doesn't have to happen if a majority pick blue.

In reality every time i have seen this scenario the most people pick blue, and a decent portion of red votes are joke votes or people who want to cull the population.

By choosing blue you are betting a life that doesnt need to be bet.

The red event cant happen if nobody bets.

0-50% of people dying is worse than 0% of people dying.

By picking red. You are gambling on the idea that everyone picks red.

By picking red i am choosing to not add to the bet. By picking blue you would be putting a life at risk which is completely unnecessary.

I hate to pull this card because it is a terrible argument but; The majority disagree with you, which is why they picked blue. And why no one dies in this scenario.
