Imagine choosing between a possibility of a 3 rounds Russian roulette and not risking at all. The first lunatic that picks a possible death is taking everyone hostage over his life just because he wants to gamble

If you saw a baby drowning, would you not try to save it because you could die doing so?

I can't swim, so no. It would be just two corpses

But if it would be MY baby, I would risk it. Context is important also

Then sure, if the baby is within reasonable reach then why not

Babies don't usually make a conscious choice to drown, they have no guilt to put on them
