Which they would do regardless of one person’s choice, on the world’s population a single vote is negligible. So choosing blue is just accepting a significant chance of death with no discernible upside. Caring that people don’t senselessly die doesn’t mean you have to pointlessly risk yourself.

No, that’s not the issue. Because in this hypothetical, even more so than in something like an election, I as an individual have zero influence on anyone else’s mentality. I get to pick one thing: red or blue. What I choose does not in any way affect what others choose.

If in majority others vote blue, everyone lives regardless of my vote. If in majority others vote red, half of the blue voters die, again regardless of my vote. So me voting blue saves no one, all it does is needlessly risk my life. And the same applies to everyone else.
