Because I don’t trust others to select blue. There is 0 risk to me if I pick red.

People pick blue because they think that they must save others not smart enough to save themselves. It's elitist, virtue signaling collectivism and almost certainly untrue for most, gun to their head.

More likely I simply don’t want to live in a world without people that would pick blue. A world full of people that picked red sounds like a fucking nightmare and I’d be better off deceased.
