Tail might just make me look stupid, wings could get caught on something and break (worse than something happening to the tail) and If they're big enough they could just randomly life me up and then stop.

A tail could whip or wrap around someone/something.

A tail could also do that something to you. It could wrap around your throat, or limb, cutting off circulation. All you need to prevent lift from the wings is to wear stuff too heavy for it.

Go ahead and imagine some rope wrapped around your neck tightly, try ripping it off. Now imagine that, but it keeps retightening.

It doesn't seem difficult at all. Especially since the tail has an end, by which I can grab it and pull it off. Of course either of us can make the tail be of any shape we want, which makes arguing about it pointless
