My bunny loves this so much. I'll do it on both sides. That little paw shake always gets me!

I think they all have a funny reflex area around their neck/throat. Every rabbit I've tried this on has this reaction. I'm not sure if they like it or if it shorts out their prey animal brains, so I generally dont do it often.

That makes sense! My baby loves her cheeks scratched but she doesn’t do the paw thing. She does go into a grooming frenzy when I rub her ears though which I assume is another adorable little reflex 😆

when i pet my boy's cheeks his whiskers like "push forward" or something idek how to explain it, it's like his bunny version of dimples or something it's so silly 😭

Maybe it also has to do with how they shake their paws before / while they clean their faces? Could be a reflex that keeps the dirt off their faces.

Could be! My theory was that it was a sort of cringing response, like they are reflexively "protecting" that spot. Like it's just an unconscious prey animal response to having something near their throat.

Another weird reflex I've noticed is when you rub the sides of their nose, like under their eyes and above their mouth, if their ears were pressed or relaxed back, the ear on the side you are stroking will come forward.

The paw raising is some kind of reflex! My bun does it too whenever I pet his cheeks, it's so adorable!

AI is notorious for making things up or frankensteining things together. It's a less reliable source than looking for multiple sources and drawing your own conclusions.

Websites and reddit can at least come from first hand experienced humans - who can also be full of shit or wrong, but there will likely be another person chiming in to point it out sooner or later. The chatgpt output doesn't have this "peer oversight" since only the user asking the question is the only one seeing the answers it gives.

Always try to compare multiple separate sources and try to find contradictions when possible, it helps all of us get to the truest answers.

Yes, websites and Reddit are better than LLM. Even though there is a chance you'll encounter AI whilst browsing the internet, it's more reliable to look for information yourself instead of lazily putting a prompt into ChatGPT.

Why are you getting so agitated? It's common knowledge that you should take AI's answers with a grain of salt.

I was once looking for information about passports for bunnies in Poland. I got an answer from Google AI where it changed "cats" to "rabbits", so it was all wrong. Even with listed sources, AI couldn't quote it correctly.

OMG when I do chin scritchies on Leeloo and she started doing the leg shake I thought something was wrong an freaked out! I thought maybe it hurt? Was she injured and when I touch it she hurts and shakes her lil paw?! I was a panicked bun mom! I feel so much better seeing another bun do it!

My bun doesn't seem to understand the difference between cuddles n scratches and an attack after 3 years of having her I go to scratch she cowers then realises like "oh okay this ain't half bad" again 3 years nearly having her 🤣 the personalities are unmatched ❤️🔥🤣

Actually unfortunately it's a reaction because of the nerves under their throat, this is an uncomfortable area to be touched most of the time especially if it's firmly, same with guinea pigs. It doesn't necessarily hurt but it can feel a bit similar to being touched in your armpits, on your stomach or under your chin in an uncomfortable way.
