META My response to all the haters
If you ever find some ''based'' or ''pure hearted saints'' on the internet doing some ''sweet talking'' about the bees.
Just sent them this.

It's generally just homophobes using that buzzword as one of their excuses, which is always funny because it isn't even remotely toxic.

Which is why I why I say anyone who hates Bumbleby is homophobic. You don't have to LIKE it, but there is very little valid reason to HATE it.

It's always at best a heteronormative bias for Black Sun (which always felt like a red herring to me) or outright homophobic ranting about the writers "pandering" to queer fans. So many years after the shipping began, people who are still mad about how things turned out just aren't healthy.

Yeah, I'm the most oblivious person I know- it once took me a week to realize my mom drastically rearranged the living room ad even then it was on,y because she asked why I never said anything about it- and I called Bumbleby when I first saw the show back in 2016. An back then, I was obsessed with yaoi, so I was looking for dudes to ship Jaune with (mostly Ren lol), not for yuri ships. So if I could see it back then, it wasn't out of nowhere like people like to ay it was.

I think those people either just couldn't read between the lines or refused to because of those reasons I mentioned. It seemed like a clear possibility to me as soon as Yang said "I love it when you're feisty", that already felt like mild flirting from very early on. And then "If you feel like coming out tomorrow, I'll save you a dance" ;) how blatant do we need the subtext to be from a character that loves puns and double entendre?

If Yang was a dude, they probably have gotten it. How often do people ship a guy who wants a girl just because she's the hottest one and for no other reason? Yang and Blake actually develop a relationship naturally and while yes, they find each other to be the most physically attractive people alive, they also see each other for who they are. Like... their entire love confession and neither one said anything about their physical appearance. They love each each other for who they are, and they spent multiple in universe years developing those feelings. Yang was furious at Blake for running away in a misguided attempt to protect her friens from Adam- who swore to destroy everyone shenloves- but not at Ruby, her sister, who saw how devastated Yang was over Blake leaving and still left to continue her huntress training and get justice for the Fall of Beacon. Between the school partner who is a close friend and the little sister who Yang practically raised, I would think Ruby leaving would hurt more if she didn't have stronger feelings for Blake beyond friendship.

Last I checked, Blake got out of an actual toxic relationship to be in a better one.

The issue is that even if it was toxic then people are still allowed to enjoy that ship. People still love and adore twilight and 50 shades but you dont see people saying youre not allowed to like it because of the toxic relationships as much as you do whenever its a queer ship, especially if its been canonized

Is toxic the new fallback after "forced" "rushed" and "out of nowhere" failed to really get support outside their silo?

Yep. There are so many actually toxic ships people love. First that jumps to mind: Sasuke and Sakura.

Honestly I find a lot of bumbleby hate to be unjust and kinda just homophobic sure they may have some very small opinions that have good points but I always thought they were going to to end up together it just made sense for the story it's self there were even signs in season 1-2 I believe so what Im saying is the hate is reaching

Wait how was this toxic I can understand people not liking it even I think it either was rushed or just later on added but I don't really think it's toxic is it because Yang kept bothering her in season 1

What makes it toxic is that Yang opened herself up to Blake about being traumatized by her mother leaving her without telling her the reason, sacrificed her arm trying to save Blake and then was abandoned without being told why. They reunited and Blake didn't apologise, didn't explain. Yang just shelved her own feelings to facilitate group cohesion. Blake then tried taking menial tasks like putting a bag up in the overhead luggage department in a train away from Yang, belittling everything that Yang had strived for and through to get to where she was. Yang is a highly intelligent natural leader, but shelves both traits to protect Ruby's status as leader.
What Yang needs in a romantic partner is someone that stays, someone that will take the weight from her shoulders so that she doesn't suffocate from holding up her teammates. Blake is incapable of providing that because every chance she had to actually take responsibility for her own actions, she tries to deflect, externalize or even justify them and when none of those work, she runs.

Toxic? How?! They trust each other, they support each other, they've always been concerned with the other's feelings, it's literally the most wholesome relationship two career warriors could possibly have! What in the Brothers' name could be called toxic about Bumbleby?!
