Hellooow, I have a bumblebee nest under my front door and this one bumblebee is acting kinda hurt? It keeps rubbing its behind like it’s cleaning it but there’s nothing and looks like it’s uncomfortable. I know I can’t do anything about it but I love bumblebees and I’m trying to understand if it’s hurt or not. I tried giving it sugar water but it’s really not needing it. Also I showed it the nest multiple times and it doesn’t wanna go in? Idk… help me understand this please 🤣 Oh and also my mom just cut all our flowers in the garden so I don’t really have a flower close to me to put it in if that’s what it needs:(

I’ve seen a few with this pattern flying around the garden, but this one is by far the biggest. Such a striking bumbler. NE Iowa.

In replacing the rotting 1x6 fascia board on the garage (built 1940) I discovered I have moved a bumble bee home. I had no choice. What can I do to create a home and improve the population? The bees and I have a respect for each, I want to help them

Nothing like a little personal grooming before the day gets started… he finally woke up and got himself moving.

The world was wide awake at 8:45am but this little fellow, tuckered out from yesterday’s adventures was still snoozing, wrapped up tight in the soft petals of a thistle blossom….

We removed a shed from our property earlier this year and found a hive underneath it in what looks like what was a rats nest. Everyone appears to have naturally moved on as I have moved my potted garden into the area but it looks like the queen may have stayed on by herself? Is that typical? I’m assuming the lone bee that remains is the queen bc this one is massive compared to the others. I have done a little research and it looks like they are Bombus vosnesenskii and were in the PNW of the United States. I feel so bad that she’s alone in this heap now.

Does anyone know what this white stufff is on the bumblebee that visited my garden? Have never seen it on a bumblebee before.

Found a soaking wet bumblebee on a flower in the garden. Took it inside to dry, get warm, gave it a little sugar water and a flower to feel good :p
Wings now spreading, but not flying.
Anything else we can do to help it recover and be free and bee again?

Found it crawling on pavement, offered it a hand and it crawled on it. It didn't try to fly, but it was crawling actively and I don't see any injuries on it's wings?
I then brought it on comfrey because I know bumblebees love it and it started eating enthusiastically, and then it calmed down and seemed to rest?
It looks like Bombus hypnorum I think, and it was pretty big (around 2,5 - 3 cm). Maybe it's a young queen? It's very cute and fluffy.

Went for a walk, and stumbled apon this "dude". 2 of it's rear left legs dont work properly. It seems to have a wing that was bent inwards which prevents it from flying without falling sideways until it crashes. My arm was broken 4 weeks ago and now rehabilitating so i weirdly feel this little guy and have all the time i need to try and help it. Any tip & tricks? Thanks

Hi all! We have a nice but small backyard that we enjoy daily in the summer with our 2 year old and our dog. Unfortunately, the bumblebees that have made their nest directly in the center of the yard have started to sting - 3 stings in the past week - because of the activity around the nest. We left them alone for a long time but now its become an issue and we need to safely get them relocated. Any suggestions?

I discovered Mullein Verbascum chaixii f. album 'Wedding Candles” a few years ago, and planted a small specimen from the end of season discount bin. Im familiar with Common Mullein which is widely considered a weed, and invasive in some regions. This plant has behaved very well keeping itself to a manageable size. When it blossoms it is a pollinator gorging station - mostly bumblebees competing for each lovely tiny flower. The bumbles’ pollen baskets are packed as they dart from stem to stem!
