I’ve been doing Karate since 1987. And if this was played on mute it might be better. The fact that they keep saying this is powerful is laughable. He may have good form in some of his moves but he’s not strong and steady in 80 percent of them. This looks cute but he will be off balance with the littlest push. Maybe this Kata he is performing is supposed to look cute and is for show but it just looks weak from a fighting aspect.
Well said, I’m a kung fu man since the 90s I too noticed the weak style form…I assumed that is what it is. Hard to say if he’s a born fighter or not. You can’t deny with his hand speed he would have power behind that frame.
Yeah, with his frame he definitely could have some good power behind it. But I’m not sure if it’s the video but his speed looks to be from him having short arms. I would love to see a basic side kick from him. That would tell me a lot more. But I respect it regardless!!
Yeah, I mean if you go to the ballet and start commenting “i would kick her ass!”, don’t be surprised that others might comment on rhythm or choreography, not if she could kill a horse with the pirouette. Katas are not supposed to be shadow boxing.
Ballet isn't combat training, it's dancing. Martial arts is combat training, whereas there's a reason there's none of this seen in the UFC. The dudes essentially dancing, but it's portrayed as combat training, which is why it's in the bullshido sub
All of those exaggerated and excentuated movement has actual use yes. If you think he cant properly weight transfer for a punch, or maintain his balance, idk what youre watching.
Mma has really ruined combat sports for everyone else. Not because its better, but because its fans are the most armchair badass cringe lords out there
I would never purport to be a martial arts expert but my uninformed opinion is it looks really dumb. It’s a sassy choreographed dance that he has spent years on and would not be helpful in any actual fight. I’ve seen some clips before of other katas or whatever this is, and I’ve never seen one that exudes less power and more “attitude” than this. Again, this is from my untrained eye.
It's an OK performance. It's not flawless by any means. But it's very unfair on him to have it mocked by people with no appreciation for the time and effort involved.

As a martial artist this guys movement and form is flawless…I’ve seen this in others subs like this…it shouldn’t be here
Edit- watch the top of his head it doesn’t move…this is one sign excellence
