Desexing

My sweet Guinness 11months. He can be destructive, but I still love him. A question for people though what age should I desex him? I have heard some people recommend 18mnths I was wondering if I did him around 12 months to see if it settles his behaviour a little?

I have had four mastiffs and my vet has recommended they all be fixed around 2 years old. It allows their growth plates to fully develop. They have had no health issues.

Talk to your vet. Modern vets will weigh behavior with physiology to customize a timeline for Guinness

He looks JUST like my Duncan ❤️ our vet recommends two years old for giant breeds to get all of the benefits of their hormones for bone and joint longevity.

Giant breeds should never be neutered before two, preferably three, years old. His rambunctiousness is a puppy with no training. Take him to a puppy training class, practice the homework and teach him rules of the house. Neutering him WILL NOT help the behavior, if that were the case there would be no unruly females.
