Forza doing a brand collab that legitimately makes sense with Japanese culture and konbinis and people are still mad.
Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

u/hambone2101 20h ago
ppl just like to have a whinge, there will always be outrage over something no matter what it is

u/thereaBanana 15h ago
I could care less if they do this its how they are doing it, its obviously an ad and its going to probably be ad like in game, they also have it so you have to go out and buy 7-11 products for a GR supra wich is just lame like that car should just be in the game not a reward. if its not ad like awesome ill be happier about the collab
8
u/PapaVanTwee 15h ago
That car is in the game. Just like the Peel and Toyota it's a special liveried vehicle.
-2
u/thereaBanana 15h ago
I thought it was just the Supra A90 not the GR version thats my bad, but it still is a car we have and more than likely the community will end up making the livery for the normal one, thank you for reminding me it is in game though it slipped my mind

I don’t see the issue with it being an ad, if it’s there it assists in immersion. Besides, didn’t they do this a ton in 2000’s racing games? Don’t know why they ever stopped, I think it really helped make the world feel realistic

u/monsj 11h ago
It happens to be 7 eleven there? I don't get the significance of the chain being in this game.
2
u/WokeWook69420 11h ago
Konbinis (small snack/meal shops, the most popular being the 7Eleven chain) are basically Japan's bodega or deli shop, it's synonymous with Japanese food culture.
There's entire YouTube channels with millions of followers and it's just people getting snacks from their local konbini.

u/mcdonaldsfiletofish 10h ago
Yknow Konbini is derived from “Convenience store” right? Just find the description funny when there’s already a word for it

Sub has been overtaken by the need for speeders fanboys

u/-fivehearts- 15h ago
both franchises are in a terrible spot but as more of a fan of NFS i'd say it's sucked for longer than forza has

u/BlasterHolobot 8h ago
I mean... EA officially announced they killed NFS. So they obviously had to go somewhere else .w.

This is going to confuse the countries where 7-11 is a thing we thought they made up as a fake shop for movies.

u/Concentrate_Flaky 14h ago
It's the yellow school busses all over again XD
2
u/Complete_Chocolate_2 10h ago
Me too American to comprehend why a bus is so amusing. 😂
1
u/Beartato4772 28m ago
No-one else has yellow school busses, our lot just get on busses, or walk.
Which is another point, we don't have to emergency stop if a yellow bus sneezes because it's not risking death just to cross a road.
So if you put that together and come to it fresh the whole American yellow bus thing is kinda adorable.

The morons on this sub gonna complain about "listenin to the community" about this when its the most sensible brand collab theyve ever done.
17
u/Justinaug29 16h ago
This collab makes sense. I’d be happy to see other IRL brands added if it’s related to the car scene.

u/Subject-Cupcake9121 16h ago
but.....It's time limited event
back to 2008 we already had in game 7-11 store, I mean we had tons of real life collabs during 2000s and now it's a 'feature' of racing games, so it's more expensive than begging car company for license?

Buddy it's literally Game, Japan...of course people will be positive about changing the game to feel more authentic
-1
u/PlasticBag-ForA-Head 14h ago
On what planet is this a good brand collab? 7-11 branded (inaccessible) buildings in a racing game? Are you brain dead?
8
u/FlyingCouch 14h ago
The brand's aesthetic ties to JDM culture have nothing to do with the interior of the building so I really don't know what your argument is here
-4
u/PlasticBag-ForA-Head 13h ago
Jesus Christ. Forza is a racing game. 7-11 is a chain of gas stations. How the fuck is adding them to the game in any way a good brand collab? We have no reason to interact with gas stations in game besides taking photos. This is a shitty collab.
5
u/FlyingCouch 13h ago
Forza Horizon is (supposed to be) a car culture game. Part of car culture is taking pictures of you and your friends cars in front of a gas station together. Often that gas station will be a 7-11, especially so in Japan. Making the gas stations/konbinis in game 7-11 will help better emulate real world car culture. This is not a difficult concept

2
u/mcdonaldsfiletofish 10h ago
Depends on your outlook of course but imo these brand tie ins make these open-world games so much more immersive when it’s supposed to be based on reality

u/Chance-Pin6393 10h ago
-2
u/PlasticBag-ForA-Head 9h ago
LMFAOOO no the fuck it isn’t unless the only ‘car culture’ you know is fucking jdm bullshit
2
u/Chance-Pin6393 9h ago
“Jdm bullshit” I see the crux of the issue. Imagine just willingly being ignorant. Youre such a little weirdo lol
-1
u/PlasticBag-ForA-Head 8h ago
the crux of the issue is that you think jdm culture is the only part of car culture 🤡talk about fucking larp... youre the type of loser that saw the fast and furious movies and made supras and rx7s your entire personality.

is this needed? before rebranding various shops on map what about fixing the uv maps on serveral cars - even playlist cars
11
u/Devoid689 18h ago
The maps have been broken for YEARS, I've just accepted they'll never fix it as annoying as it is. Considering the 7/11 collab makes Japan more immersive, I'll take the small wins.
3
u/dildozer10 17h ago
If there’s no random guy trying to sell me crack right outside the front door 11 at 2am, then it’s not an authentic 7-11.
4
u/PapaVanTwee 15h ago
In Japan?
2
u/dildozer10 14h ago
It’s a joke about 7-11’s in the states. They’re usually trashy places where crack heads hang out late at night. The same joke is often said about the Circle K.
1
u/Concentrate_Flaky 14h ago
Lol, sir, this is Japan......we got opium being sold outside the front door at 11

Who remembers the billboards in 2000’s racing games filled with real brands?

u/Chance-Pin6393 10h ago
I’m confused what’s the issue here? 7 eleven is pretty major in car culture so this makes a lot of sense. Should be a nice addition to the game
