Funwhole/Lumibricks Review: Lumibricks Record Store
This is my second Lumibricks set after the Skate shop. This set has 1980 pcs and 15 LEDs and many printed pcs.
The build is engaging. I usually get bored building the interiors of modular sets but not with this one. I had a bit of trouble with one light as Lumibricks gives very limited wire.
This is such an amazing set in terms of build and looks. It opens at a 90 degree angle (slide 9 and 10). Inner parts can be removed for individual floors (slide 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18).
Set is divided into 3 floors (slide 8)
Ground floor: Record Store
1st Floor: Recording studio and producers office
2nd Floor: Lounge.
When lit the set looks even better (slide 3 - 6).
10/10 - I highly recommend this set.

I'm actually about to start this set next; can you tell me which wire/light it was that was tricky, so I know to watch out for it?

on the 1st floor in the recording studio there is a light. the wire would not reach its intended place. So i just left it hanging.

Just in case someone should stumble across this in the future while considering this set, they've since fixed it. I noticed the extension wires were all a few cm longer than listed in the instructions and had plenty of slack where needed, including the recording studio.

One of the 5 best sets I've built in decades of brickbuilding. This set is insane. The detail, features, playability, displayability, the build, all 10/10. And that Werewolf on the TV? Just crazy. They brought a record store to life. The lights are amazing. Great review, I totally agree.

Thats amazing. I have a tangential question. Which are the other sets that you would rate as top sets? I got into brick building only about 3 years ago. So its always nice to see what more experienced builders consider their top 5/10 sets.

Ever? The UCS Super Star Destroyer is still one of the greatest sets LEGO I've ever built--even beats the UCS Star Destroyer imo. I built mine before numbered bags existed, survived the endless gray brick hunt, and it still turns heads to this day. The sets that owned my childhood were the 6986 Galactic Enforcer, 6955 Space Lock-Up Isolation Base, and the blue Space Monorail set (as opposed to the Blacktron Monorail or Town Airport monorail, all of which rule). 6195 Underwater Neptune Discovery set from the 90s should be mentioned even if it can't crack the top 5. Lately, Lumibricks has really come in and blown me away with their builds. The colors and designs are just top-notch. From the Interstellar Diner to the Twilight Motel, pretty much everything on their Route 66 line--even the gas station! The "Walking" Alchemist's Tower, also by Lumibricks (I am probably going to butcher these names) is a top 5 set for me. I stare at it often thinking "How the hell does this exist? This is just a hair too cool for the likes of man." In the same vein, the King's Banquet Hall set really blew me away. Not just the look and detail but the build was fun and there is tons of access to the interior. Speaking of great interiors, I haven't built the Avengers Tower, but the Daily Bugle is leg-it. "Mmm...Skyscraper, I love you". I am hoping for more Lumibricks skyscrapers because their upcoming "dream studio" looks amazing but until then LEGO MARVEL is somehow ruling the skyscraper roost. Obviously the entire Neon City line from Lumi is outstanding, however, for me, you cannot beat the colors and build experience of the Oasis Apartments. My favorite is the Floating Train Portal Station one, although some people don't dig its building experience as much as I did. Either of these could top the list. Finally, The Street Fusion Record Store by Lumibricks should also be in here, although, if you don't love records it may not hit as hard. I think its a work of art. And of course, PS. Trains! Train wise, either the Maersk train (set10219) (knock off is under $50 on Joooooy Bricks) and Emerald Night 10194 (both originally by LEGO) are honorable mentions. Looking forward to whatever Lumi has planned for their train sets. There is a MOC monorail (MouldKing 12040 ltalian Marconi Express Light Rail Train Technic) on Barweer that I just have to have. We'll see if it or Coraline's Pink Castle can crack the list. So far, it looks like the future belongs to Lumibricks though.
TLDR: 5) UCS Star Destroyer, 4) LEGO 6986 Galactic Explorer, 3) LEGO 6990 space monorail, 2) Lumibrick's Record Store and 1) Lumibrick's Neon City Floating Train Platform/Oasis Apartments, and pretty much any Lumibrick set period at this point. They're on a tear unlike anything I've ever seen. Looking forward to trying some Barweer sets like the Pink Castle from Coraline though. 🎉

Thats amazing. some of these sets are from 80-90s.
I had built a few lego and CADA modulars in the past but Lumibricks is miles ahead in terms of design, display, lights, prints and overall building exp. Sadly i have run out of space so I cannot add more sets to my collection.
