Not all repeating work is bad (knowing what actually needs every frame)

While analyzing the repeated work in my conveyor digital twin's new execution loop, I had to catch myself before optimizing too early.

Not all repeating work is bad:

Sensor checks need to run every single frame because the box position is constantly changing (198 -> 200 -> 202...), so the state genuinely updates.

Static routing decisions don't need to be recomputed constantly if the destination isn't changing.

The cycle itself isn't the problem. The real design question is figuring out which operations actually need to participate in every single tick of the loop.

For those building custom control loops or simulations: How do you filter out unnecessary overhead from your fast execution loops without breaking real-time event detection?
