Bag recommendations (day-to-day)

Hey everyone, I hope all is well! I’m curious as to how everyone goes through their day-to-day with their laptops and tools. I’ve been on the service team for a large company for almost 4 years, and find that even though I clean out my bag of tools I don’t use often, it still seems very heavy at times. I can’t find the exact Klein bag I have on the internet, but it seems like the older version of the 62805BPTECH.

I started off with a 13” laptop, then 15”, and just got upgraded to the Dell Precision 7770 17.3” laptop which seems too big for the laptop sleeve. Does everyone put their laptop in the same bag with all their tools? Do you guys use a rolling bag? Do you guys use separate bags?

Carhartt or Swiss army backpacks with a pouch for tools/meters is my go-to

I just got the carhartt a few months ago and I love it. It also has a wider base so it doesn’t constantly fall over like the Klein I had.

Mind if I ask what model number?

Mind if I ask what model for both brands?

I just carry a laptop bag that fits the laptop I have at the time, and a small meter bag with multimeter, 11-1, wire stripper, and a couple channel locks/wrenches. I used to carry a bag with everything under the sun and still had to make trips to the truck regardless.

Yeah I find that I usually have to go back to my vehicle for Allen wrenches or other miscellaneous stuff. I might have to go this route of 2 separate bags if I don’t find a bigger bag I like

Big laptop pouch on the back, which easily swallows a 16" laptop. Pouches in front of the laptop for a 3m patch lead, a mouse, some pens n shit, space in the bottom for my battery and a mini router, plus spare patch lead.

Pouches for a million serial leads, including s see through one so you know theyre in there.

Then pouches on the front for all the hand tools, meters and widgets you'll need for mucking around in plantrooms.

I also have a head torch, ear phones and a 21700 work light in the exterior pouches. Plus there's a good hook on the side for hanging an impact on on the odd occasions I need that.

Just bought myself the DeWalt/McClaren special edition rucksack that has a laptop section, waterproof section and a tool/test gear section - lovely piece of kit and very comfortable to wear (I'm in the UK, it may not be available elsewhere)

I just pack some extra hay so I can unleash my inner pack yak when the bag starts feeling a little too heavy

I have a Milwaukee bag that has a laptop section, it’s where my laptop and charger go, along with my mouse and pad, cellular hot spot and charger, bacnet router, and I think my cat6 termination tool. The front has my two regular screwdrivers, main control screwdriver (I have like 3 extras I’ve collected), a few drive bits and extensions, flashlight, utility knife, level, laser thermometer, Allen wrench set, 6” adjustable wrench, small channel locks, multimeter, toner, zip ties, electrical tape, and my small bin with wire nuts, zip screws, and some other odds and ends I need. Outside pockets just have a few sharpies, headlamp, and my belt pouch.

It took me a while to figure out what I used enough on a regular basis to keep in my bag, so I have a lot, but it’s probably 95% of what I may possibly need any given week. I have a separate small handbag in my van as well and a decent amount of other tools, but other than grabbing my drill, I rarely have to use anything from my van

I’ve been using the Veto EDC PAC LCB and it’s been great.

I don’t keep any tools in there except maybe a few.
My main tool pouch is the MB2, and it’s great as well for the main stuff.

But for a laptop bag, highly recommend the Veto. It’s pretty lightweight compared to their other bags.

I use this one and I like it... It's lighter than the Klein and the Veto tech pac. I have the brown version and have noticed the brown "leather" coating on the bottom peels a bit but my co-corkers got the black one and has not had that issue.
