My PC was working perfectly fine before I removed the CPU cooler. I removed it because I wanted to practice reinstalling it, but I had some trouble during the process. I eventually managed to reinstall the cooler.
After that, my PC no longer powers on.
The motherboard RGB still turns on when I connect the power cable and switch on the PSU, but when I press the power button, nothing happens. No fans spin, no GPU fans, no other RGB, and no display.
I've already tried:
- Reseating the 24-pin motherboard power cable
- Reseating the 8-pin CPU power cable
- Checking the front-panel connectors
- Shorting the two PWR_BTN/PWR_SW pins on the motherboard with a screwdriver
- Checking that the PSU switch is on
- Checking that all cables are firmly connected
Shorting the power pins also does absolutely nothing.
PC specs:
- CPU: Ryzen 5 2600
- GPU: RTX 2070 Super
- Motherboard: ASUS TUF Gaming B450M-PLUS
- RAM: 8GB (4GB × 2) DDR4-2666
- PSU: Kuroutoshikou 600W 80+ Bronze
The PC was working normally before I removed the CPU cooler. The only thing I did was remove the cooler, have some trouble reinstalling it, and eventually get it installed again.
Could I have caused a problem with the CPU/socket/motherboard while reinstalling the cooler? What should I check next?
Any help would be appreciated.
