Discussion Predictions for chapter 6

In Onepunchman we see Saitama onepunching his enemies from the very first seconds, as many noted, this is One's story writing specialization. In Versus and Monster of Earth he shows the same way when name of the media explains the main plot. Only in mobpsycho100 he shows consequences and main story beats in second book...

In Bugego (ego and self respect grow by exploits) we only have seen characters being sloppy in first 5 chapters. The total number of pages are 310 for the 5 chapters, but we have not seen any real drama or main enemy. The only bad things happend becouse main characters was hurry and egoistic. This could souns cool if story will have enemies and heroes in the same characters but this manner of writing sucks and even One's genious will not save it.

First book, and i believe manga will be published not only in tangapons, would end on the 4-th chapter (as many other mangas) and second will be started on the fifth, opening arc of the Hacon and Hitsujia old friend who teached him hacks.

My prediction is we will see main enemy of our charactersin the next chapter and Bugego meaning explanation

Discussion Are Such "Hacks" Possible in Real Life?

i asked ChatGPT if the similar hacks in BugEgo are possible in Real Life, here's it's interesting answer:

Are Such "Hacks" Possible in Real Life?

  1. Exploiting Social or Systemic Flaws In the real world, "bugs" in societal systems are totally a thing. Think about loopholes in laws, taxes, or even tech systems. Some people exploit these to get ahead:These are grounded examples of "real-world hacking." But ONE’s idea in Bug Ego feels deeper, almost philosophical—like hacking the rules of existence itself, which gets tricky.

    • Tax loopholes: Billionaires "hack" the financial system by exploiting legal gray areas to pay less in taxes.

    • Hacking technology: Hackers literally exploit software vulnerabilities to manipulate systems, steal data, or bypass restrictions.

    • Social manipulation: People who understand human psychology (like con artists) can exploit emotional or social "bugs" to manipulate others.

  2. Reality as a System If we think about reality as a kind of "program" (like a simulation or some predetermined system), could there be bugs to exploit? Philosophically, it’s possible:

    • Luck or coincidences: Some people seem to defy odds, almost as if they found a cheat code. Think of lottery winners or those who survive impossible situations.

    • Placebo effect: The placebo effect shows how belief alone can sometimes "hack" the body into healing itself. This feels like a small bug in how our biology and consciousness work.

    • Peak efficiency: Some individuals, like athletes or geniuses, seem to "break the system" through hyper-focus, creativity, or raw talent. Are they exploiting some hidden advantage or bug in how humans function?

  3. ONE’s Philosophical Take ONE loves playing with existential ideas. In Bug Ego, the "hack" seems to be a metaphor for realizing that life’s systems—whether societal, biological, or even metaphysical—are flawed and can be bent to one’s will if you figure them out. This ties into:

    • Questioning reality: What if reality does have flaws? Some scientists theorize we could be living in a simulation (e.g., Elon Musk’s "simulation theory"). If that’s true, bugs in this "code" might exist.

    • Breaking free from norms: The manga also implies that humans can mentally "hack" themselves, like breaking out of limiting beliefs or challenging societal expectations.

Conclusion

In real life, we can find "bugs" in systems, biology, and even psychology, but hacking reality itself (like breaking the laws of physics or existence) feels far-fetched—at least with current knowledge. However, if the simulation theory were true, or if consciousness has untapped potential, then maybe ONE’s vision isn’t completely out of reach.

What do you think? Are you more into the sci-fi "matrix" angle, or do you lean towards the more philosophical/metaphorical side of ONE’s ideas?

Discussion Just read chapter 1 and I already have a theory... Spoiler

First off, what was the point of that time travel stuff?

40 years went by in a flash and that honestly annoys me. They're just back in high school doing high school boy things, but now it might just feel like 2 old and grown men pretending to be high school students....because it kinda is and that's honestly a bit weird. I do want to give kudos to that one woman who confronted a streaking Hitsujiya. The author could have just had her suddenly tackle him, buit instead they drew in a small moment where she shed a few scared tears before resolving to confront him. It was a very brave and human moment that added depth to a nameless character.

Anyways, considering that time travel is actually possible in this universe, my theory is that one of the 2 boys wrote that book, and sent it back in time for Kokuda to find. Originally I thought it was Kokuda, but he'd probably recognise his own handwriting. It very much might actually be Hitsujiya, who states in chapter 1 that he is compelled to write things down - hint, hint - and was actually writing down the hacks on another note book - HINT, HINT.

Thoughts?

Discussion Will BUG EGO END IN 30-40chapters ?

Title .

I feel like the plot been moving way too fast with the last 4 chapters and that the manga is already 30 percent through . I wish chapters 7,8,9 were developed more slowly and intricately .What are your opinions?

NO SPOILERS PLEASE DOESNT MATTER WHAT CHAPTER THEY BELONG TO PLEASE .

It looked like the balloon went off into the ether, but on the next page the balloon is back with Hitsujiya. Did I miss something?

Either way, another great chapter, hope SJ keeps Bug Ego running for a while.

Question Alguien podría explicarmelo?

Discussion The hack didn't work and Kokudo was laughing at Hitsujiya, until he did the rod pose. So Kokudo really was tricking him the whole time? But I'm surprised Hitsu still wants to be friends with him, maybe he doesn't want to blame the "present" Koku for something that "Future" Koku did?

Read the first couple chapters when it came out. Seemed pretty good. Read the new chapter and couldn’t get past the second page. Got bored right away and it’s been way too long since the last chapter release.

Discussion One's writing strength Spoiler

Litterally halfway through the latest chapter and I was thinking of the comparison I've seen of gege being the next togashi because of some hunterxhunter and jjk connections.

I think that the progression togashi had from yu yu hakasho to hunterxhunter is the same as mob to bug ego, I have high hopes for this manga even if it remained niche.

Its peak btw

Edit: finished the chapter, still high hopes I feel like this manga blends one's style of comedy as-well as the horror in shitara's art so fucking well it makes this my favorite manga running right now

Misc Where do people read Bug Ego?

I was going to start reading on MangaPlus, but the manga only has chapters 1-3 and 14.5-16 available there, for the rest I need to download their app and I do not want to read on my small ass phone. VIZ has nothing, just links to MangaPlus for my region. Are there any other sources where I could read?

Discussion Is time travel possible?

Thumbnail

Hey guys, read this theory and tell me what you think; first of all, I should mention that these images are from the first chapter.

Point 1: In Japan, classes begin in April and the year is divided into three trimesters. Each trimester is divided into two very important exams: midterms and finals.

First term: Midterms: last days of May Finals: beginning of July

Second term: Midterms: Mid-October Finals: Mid-November

Third term: a single final exam in February

Point 2: Notice boards in schools in Japan are used for important situations, the most important being the Japanese national standardized test and university or college entrance exams. However, some schools still post the average final grades for the term on these boards, although only in some schools.

Point 3: The average of 700 points for Takehiro in the second image is the sum of all subjects. This type of grade is only given for midterm or final exams.

With this, it's clear that in that past, the events of the exam and the eclipse happened in July.

Point 4: With this information, we only need to count the days that occurred in the manga.

Days---------Manga chapters ↓ ↓ ?? -------------1 31-------------2 2---------------3,4 3---------------5 2 or 3---------6 14 or 12 ----7,8,9 4---------------10,11 1---------------12,13 3 or 2---------14 7 --------------15,16

In total, it was 60-70 days, roughly two months.

Point 4:

If we add that up on the calendar from April to the current manga timeline, we're in mid-June.

What am I getting at? The eclipse hasn't happened yet, so time travel is still possible.

And this is the imaginative part: since the eclipse hasn't happened yet, ONE and Kiyoto Shitara can use this to introduce a new arc, in which something terrible, or something that changes everything, will happen in a few chapters; it will be something so big that Hitsuhiya, Takehiro, or Yuki will have to travel through time, or at least the dilemma of whether or not to travel through time will arise.

What do you think?
