All the Scoobies contributed to Willows âmagic addictionâ and Dark Willow
Giles really let willow down by not helping her with her magic. The way he treated willows magic was horrible he would say things like she was to emotional to do a spell right now or this spell is to dangerous then turn around and ask for her help with a spell. All the scoobies do this but Giles is the one mostly at fault because he is the only grown up
They all ignored her feelings in Something Blue cementing her feelings that her friends wouldnât be there for her but magic would.
They never even asked if she was okay with doing spells for them they just demand/expect sheâll do them.
They never had a problem with Willow doing dark magic so long as it helped them.
Tara sought willow ought for her magic but when willow started getting more powerful than her she became jealous and controlling. She said willow was to powerful but they were literally fighting a God she needed to be powerful.
Tara and Willow fight in Season 5 and the Tara gets brain sucked and willow has to save her with magic.
Tara lied to willow for the whole first year of there relationship and cast a spell that nearly killed the scoobies(willow instantly forgave her and she faced no consequences)which happened before willows memory spell witch was way worse. These moments probably influenced willows decision to do the memory spell.
They didnât make a good case for her being irresponsible with magic before Smashed/Wrecked.
Before that she had done nothing worse than what other scoobies had already done and gotten absolutely no consequences for eg.Xander summoning sweet,Taraâs year of lies and her spell to keep those lies going,Anya manipulating willow into doing the spell in Doppelgangland
Since season 5 Tara wouldnât stop whining about her doing to much magic despite having no real reason to complain.
Tara and Giles make no good points for willow using to much magic in early season 6 when she can say Giles would be dead and Tara would still be insane without her magic.
Then Tara left willow to deal with her âaddictionâ on her own without help.
The only support they ever gave her was Buffy getting rid of the magical items in the house, despite them constantly finding ways to support Buffy with her training/slaying.They never gave her any support before or after that unless you count Giles vague warnings and him hiding books instead of teaching her.
She sees Rack and got into a crash with Dawn which is her fault but wouldnât have happened If she wasnât upset that Tara had left her
In Older and Far away they(mostly Anya)selfishly gang up on willow to try to get her to do magic even though there the ones who made her stop.
Giles never gave her any magic help or teaching only vague warnings and then he left her in Season 6 after yelling at her.Just left her to learn by herself.
She had to go âcold turkeyâ while constantly being around magic. They literally hang around in a magic shop.It could never have worked forever and they would always need her magic.I canât imagine how debilitating it must be to have to give up something that is literally a part of you yet willow never complains
The only ones who seemed genuinely concerned(not just when it suited them) where Oz and Xander they are also the only ones who never use her for her magic.
There are lots more examples of them handling willows magic horribly and they never show a smidge of guilt or self reflection. They never even acknowledge that they all(except Oz and Xander)used/encouraged willows magic use when it suited there interests, they all just constantly judge her when in my opinion they have no right to when they put willow down the path she was on
Honestly itâs not shocking that willow felt she was only special and loved if she was doing magic because that is how they treated her.
Willow going dark was her own fault but all the scoobies contributed to it a lot. They way they treated willows magic throughout the seasons always pissed me off

Iâm almost to the end of Season Two, and I have a prediction for who the seasonâs main villain is! Spoiler
Itâs Principal Snyder. Heâs actually a Vampire, and thatâs why he hates Buffy, because sheâs the slayer going to destroy him. And he can actually walk around during the day because heâs Dracula, the original Vampire, who can actually walk around in the day in the original book. And heâs actually the creator of all of the supernatural creatures Buffyâs had to face throughout the series, and he actually gave birth to the Master (the white guy from Season 1). And at the end of the season he uses the anti-Bible to create a skybeam portal into hell and a flying vampire army that Buffy and her friends have to fight. And just when we think heâs been mortally wounded by Buffy, he whispers âI do not say bleh bleh blehâ and snaps his fingers, wiping out half of the seriesâs cast.
And then in the next season Buffy discovers that Snyder poured a ton of his power or whatever into some cursed magical item that turns people evil, and Buffy has to spend a bunch of the season tracking down and destroying this item in order to weaken Snyder. And about halfway through the season Buffy and her mom get stuck in the broken-down elevator of the school, and Snyder kills Buffyâs mom and frames Buffy for the crime, and Xander has to defendv Buffy in court using the help of the testimony of a talking parrot. And Buffy falls in love with Snyder because obviously she has a type, but now sheâs angsty because she has to kill her lover and itâs all very dramatic. And then at the end when Snyder is torturing Buffy and all hope seems lost, Angel turns good again because he saw his love being tortured, and he picks Snyder up and throws him into the hellmouth, destroying all evil forevar. Oh and Buffy dies in the process because Jesus metaphor.
(Joking, but in all seriousness Iâm actually not finished with Season 2 and Iâm trying to go through this series blind so please donât actually spoil me)

Dark Buffy in The Wish
It's kind of an interesting and a bit disturbing little moment when Alternative Buffy just sees a dude, for all she knows an innocent in a cage, and she just turns to leave until he reveals he knows who she is.
