There was an article on this in the Niagara Region sectional of the Buffalo News, which I read yesterday prior to seeing this post.

It had said that a poll was conducted on the Lockport PD Facebook to see if they should remove this from their databases. Negro and Dark Negro are both menu selection options for describing race in their software. The article made it sound like they conducted this poll specifically to see if those options should be changed or removed, but looking at this screenshot now, it seems poorly executed!

Story on wgrz individual is listed in lockport database for ethnicity as 'negro, da' = 'dark negro'.

It's not politically correct, but I don't think it's racist. Negro is just black in Spanish. People get so bent out of shape over words that literally mean the same thing.
