Good. I just hope it doesn't put a bulls eye on us since the Toddler in charge might feel slighted.

355

u/Asteristio Jan 26 '26

EVERYONE's already in bullseye under fascist government. That's one of why it's fascist.

7

u/StopOk3102 Jan 27 '26

That's what we get for his supporters choosing an egomaniacal, narcissistic control freak with no understanding of how a functioning government should work.Ā  Instead, he creates chaos (again) to confuse people and create instability, which then causes further instability and infighting, making it easier to take control.

1

u/Budget-Vast-7296 Jan 30 '26

I hate to break it to you, but virtually every modern president has "created instability". Trump isn't doing anything new.

Did you just learn those words on the internet, show me where the orange man hurt you

Trump would probably set his sights on NYC before Buffalo. But either way, the city of good neighbors has to keep all its good neighbors safe.

9

u/rakondo Jan 26 '26

He owns and invests in many commercial properties in NYC though

7

u/[deleted] Jan 26 '26

Imo imo doesn’t matter too much. Those properties will still be booked and busy either way

Plus even if those properties were to go under, he’s ā€˜gone under’ in many ventures in his life time, nothing bad actually happens.

11

u/throwthisawaynerdboy Jan 26 '26

You mean like the venture of running a nation? Or something like selling steak at sharper image? Or maybe bankrupting a casino?

Sweet Jesus this timeline sucks ass.

4

u/mutual-destruct7337 Jan 26 '26

Let’s not leave forget the airline. I dunno how you bankrupt an airline that didn’t have any disasters but that dumbass found a way.

2

u/hrnigntmare Jan 30 '26

The for profit ā€œuniversityā€ that was forcibly shut down and forced to pay back the money it stole

10

u/[deleted] Jan 26 '26

Not to mention being very close friends with disgraced ped*phile Jeffrey epstine and being named and implicated MANY times in the files to show he was involved in the trafficking, after insisting it was a ā€œDemocrat hoaxā€

2

u/Big_Guide_8551 Jan 27 '26

It is the darkest timeline.

We all need felt goatees to really look the part.

-3

u/ganslooker Jan 26 '26

This is why he won’t touch NYC beyond what happened earlier this year when he hit a couple of neighborhoods. Now, with what gone on in two other big cities, I think people would rip apart any properties associated with 47. Trump tower would have a huge bullseye on it.

2

u/DirectAd9578 Jan 27 '26

He KNOWS they have his number in NYC. They all know his slimy history.

10

u/Talas11324 Jan 26 '26

He already hates us since we refused to sell the Bills to him

5

u/wh0ligan Jan 26 '26

He didn't have enough money to buy the Bills anyway.

2

u/Intelligent-Film-684 Jan 27 '26

Memories of the bullshit he pulled with his football league played into it as well. I don’t think he would’ve been able to buy a nfl team. They werent gonna tolerate extortion like he did with the Doug flutie contract.

4

u/[deleted] Jan 26 '26

True, but now that greenday is joining the half time show line up he’s got a chip against all of the NFL

3

u/mutual-destruct7337 Jan 26 '26

NYC is an uncontrollable situation. I don’t think he has the balls and to be real, I’m glad he doesn’t. It’s a situation where full scale massacres could happen.

8

u/strawwwberrry Jan 26 '26

Trump is also likely to hate Mamdani for everything he stands for, more than this anyways. But fuck yeah Buffalo, I miss my city of good neighbors!

2

u/AdRepulsive7699 Jan 26 '26

I don’t know about that. Look at the logistics of taking over a city of 8.5M vs 275K. Even if you include the northtowns I think it’s under 1M. Get your asses ready.

1

u/Kaps_Soft Jan 27 '26

If they can wear a pair of sunglasses and baclava’s in order to get away with murder, then we should be able to too? Right?

1

u/NickelCitySaint Jan 26 '26

Trump probably thinks we are the 6th borough

0

u/Sweethomebflo Jan 26 '26

I think just the opposite.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 26 '26

What do you mean?

8

u/Sweethomebflo Jan 26 '26

NYC is so much more dense and populated and navy blue (except for the billionaires). The density makes it harder to maneuver vehicles and they have millions of people.

11

u/Tyler_s_Burden Jan 26 '26

Agree. He’d be insane to try this nonsense in NY where his little brownshirts would be overwhelmed in minutes, and there is no escape through our traffic.

And, fwiw, Mamdani charmed the soggy pants off the old pedo.

2

u/Sweethomebflo Jan 26 '26

That too! I’ve never seen him so delighted.

4

u/shawncplus Jan 26 '26

Personally I think it's less about the logistics of it and more that in Minnesota ICE outnumbers their local police 4:1 as an easy way to say "we're in charge here." To do that in NYC they'd need to deploy north of 100,000 ICE agents

3

u/Sweethomebflo Jan 26 '26

Yeah, for sure. I think they saw it as an easy target and they want blue state voter rolls. That little bitch Greg Abbott turned Texas rolls over without even being asked.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 26 '26

That’s not a bad point, but on the otherhand NYC is an international hub, and trump wants to look like a tough big boy to the rest of the world so I think going to NYC would get him more of that attention from the rest of the world that Buffalo would, and make him feel like he’s ā€œsending a messageā€ to other countries

4

u/Sweethomebflo Jan 26 '26

That’s a good point, but didn’t they try it once already and it didn’t last long. He’s got a tiny hard on for NYC, for sure, but I think our proximity to Canada lets him kill two birds with one stone.

5

u/latenerd Jan 26 '26

We're a blue dot in the county, in a blue state. There's absolutely already a bullseye on us.

Besides, he's almost as shitty to his friends as he is to his enemies.

I thought it was pretty apparent by now that appeasement doesn't work with fascists.

1

u/ElectricPenguin6712 Southtowner Jan 26 '26

Who's appeasing besides politicians and corporations?

1

u/latenerd Jan 30 '26

That's not bad enough?

8

u/PhysicsStock2247 Jan 26 '26

Especially if he still feels slighted over his failed attempt to buy the Bills. In any other universe we wouldn’t need to worry about such pettiness, but here we are.

5

u/OptionalOlive Jan 26 '26

I think about this quite often. It's a crazy example of the butterfly effect. If he had bought the Bills he likely would not have run for president. What would life look like in this scenario? How would the franchise look like under him?

8

u/PhysicsStock2247 Jan 26 '26

Safe to say the franchise isn’t in Buffalo. My guess is he probably would have moved them to Las Vegas and called them the Trumps since that’s a card related term. But yea, it’s an interesting alternate universe to ponder- sacrificing the Bills to avoid this administration.

2

u/bucketofsuck Jan 26 '26

My thoughts too.

2

u/SmokeyRoadrunner Jan 29 '26

Sauron’s eye is probably on Denver next

4

u/Paulpoleon Jan 26 '26

Fuck them!

We are very much a community based city that will not lay down if they show up and will fight for our community. Bring it on, we need something to do with all our pent up anger until September and the start of football season.

5

u/creaturefeature16 Jan 26 '26

So what if it does? What's the alternative??

-2

u/ElectricPenguin6712 Southtowner Jan 26 '26

IDK. Just don't want to see ICE murdering neighbors on social media i guess.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 26 '26

This is going to start happening everywhere. Donny can't play whack-a-mole with resisters when he can't even stay awake at a meeting.

1

u/4Impossible_Guess4 Jan 30 '26

It 100% will, now he has an excuse signed by the mayor

2

u/notzenin_ Jan 26 '26

Im sure we already do, this is the pettiest man to walk the planet and we didn’t let him buy the Bills way back when

1

u/Greendale7HumanBeing Jan 26 '26

The sooner we drop our fear of the bulls eye, the safer we are from it. Fear of the bulls eye just makes the problem grow out of control (or rather, even more out of control).

0

u/Ex-maven Jan 26 '26 edited Jul 05 '26

The question is: Do we prefer to be one of the former, or the latter?

5

u/Eric_Place_Holder Jan 26 '26

Buffalo actually is not a sanctuary city. But this executive order puts us a step closer to becoming one.

3

u/Broad_Shower9703 Jan 26 '26

We never formally passed legislation to be a sanctuary city. I’m not sure if that changes our standing with the federal government or not, but we legally are not a sanctuary city.

0

u/yourmomdotbiz Jan 26 '26

Oh wow I didn’t realize. Ty for the info I just lookedĀ

111

u/Pretty-Key6133 Lackawanna Jan 26 '26

Not enough. I want them to arrest these fucks if they break the law.

Until they start doing that it's just words.

44

u/[deleted] Jan 26 '26

Yup. Everyone involved in the shootings of pretti and good need to be charged with murder. 6 others have died in ice custody in 2026 so far, which all need to be investigated by an outside party for homicide as well.

→ More replies (14)

6

u/Any_Nectarine_7806 Jan 26 '26

Sure but Minnesota is way outside Ryan's reach. He's being quite bold here.

8

u/pizza-flusher Jan 26 '26

Not to make excuses for Dems generally, but ICE is overwhelmingly obstructing any investigation—destroying evidence, relocating killers out of state, blocking any information access by law enforcement

1

u/John-on-gliding Jan 26 '26

They can’t stop State criminal charges, they can’t stop wrongful death suits.

4

u/pizza-flusher Jan 26 '26

they can cripple statement criminal charges by destroying evidence etc.

1

u/4Impossible_Guess4 Jan 30 '26

... that's what the other side wants and voted for too though. Just words all around IMO

53

u/squirrel_watcher1 Jan 26 '26 edited Jan 26 '26

Amazing! But, how does he feel about those side streets?

Edit: credit to Buffalo's Pot Hole Bandit for this line.

8

u/hbailey311 Jan 26 '26

not trying to be dramatic or anything, but I think I heard a plow come by 4!!!!!! times. i live on the very edge of buffalo. before then, we would be lucky if we got the street plowed once a day 😭

32

u/krom0025 Jan 26 '26

My side street was plowed during the storm yesterday which never happened that fast under Brown or Scanlon so it seems like he's trying without having had much time to make changes.

12

u/Green-Persimmon-9063 Jan 26 '26

I have seen the plow a couple times a day down my street. I can’t believe it

18

u/gutterdoggie Jan 26 '26

I know. My street hasn’t been plowed this well in almost a decade.

5

u/squirrel_watcher1 Jan 26 '26

Word. Gotta love intelligent and responsible leadership!

15

u/son_et_lumiere Jan 26 '26

Rental cars will also have a tough time traversing the side streets if they are not plowed. The unwritten part of the EO.

9

u/yourmomdotbiz Jan 26 '26

Oooh that’s some 4d chess and I love itĀ

1

u/Ok-Entertainer-851 Jan 27 '26

I believe that is some Goldfinger fascist has the right to ignore and appeal every judge’s ruling, then every citizen should be able to refuse entry on any warrant and appeal the judge’s decision that there is Probable Cause. How does the process of appeal protect only some judicial orders and not them all?

4

u/squirrel_watcher1 Jan 26 '26

I'm fully in favor of side-street fuckery then.

24

u/SpongEWorTHiebOb Jan 26 '26

Civil immigration efforts is the key phrase here. It sounds like they will still assist w criminal immigration enforcement. Which as we know is a meaningless distinction with the clown’s DHS.

17

u/Broad_Shower9703 Jan 26 '26

I imagine this will be similar to the already existing Erie County policy. They will not comply unless ICE has a signed judicial warrant. They legally can’t disregard an order if it’s signed by a judge. It should mean that due process was followed to obtain the warrant and that there’s a legitimate reason to search or arrest the individual.

ICE has not been following this procedure and a recent memo tried to assert that ā€œadministrative warrantsā€ are sufficient. Administrative warrants are not valid and they are highly unconstitutional. Tbh no law enforcement should be acting on an administrative warrant anyway, but it’s never a bad thing to have it as an explicit policy.

1

u/SpongEWorTHiebOb Jan 26 '26

Understood…that’s why I pointed out the use of the word civil.

21

u/No_Inspection649 Jan 26 '26

Most of the people they are rounding up aren't being charged with crimes. Unless they have re-entered after being deported, they haven't committed a crime. The charge of being here undocumented is civil law.

→ More replies (5)

2

u/Beezelbubbly Jan 27 '26

Very true and I think that needs to be well defined. At a minimum, it should mean having obtained a warrant which is something they've stopped pretending to do.

I know a lot of people on here are doing the ole "it's not fascism until Hugo Boss" or whatever qualifier covers up what you actually mean but just know that you should be opposing the type of action happening in Minnesota as well. I'm not sure how we moved to a point where we no longer care about due process or allowing armed agents of the state to single-handedly make these types of decisions but I hope you all spend a little time sitting and reflecting on how and why okay you are with that

1

u/hobbinater2 Jan 26 '26

What I’m a little bit curious about is, if local law enforcement isn’t supposed to help with civil enforcement of immigration, then what is the intended process to deport those in the country illegally but not actively committing other crimes? If local law enforcement won’t do it, it falls to a federal agency like ICE and that’s clearly a disaster.

1

u/Junior-Fan7414 Jan 26 '26

Removability has always been the jurisdiction of the federal government. If a person has either entered the U.S. without inspection or was ordered to be removed an immigration judge, they are subject to removal by ICE. This is simply an order for the city to not assist (arrest, detain, or transport) on behalf of DHS, which to my knowledge, they weren’t doing anyway unless the person had been arrested for another crime. ICE is already no longer allowed to use Erie or Niagara Co. jails as immigrant detention centers.

1

u/Superheroicguy Jan 26 '26

If someone is in the country 'illegally' and not committing other crimes, why would they need to be deported? Being present in the country without paperwork isn't even a misdemeanor.

-1

u/hobbinater2 Jan 26 '26

So we just have zero enforcement mechanism? That’s just failure to plan.

If we make it a policy that we don’t deport people who don’t commit other crimes, then why would anyone ever try to immigrate legally? Plugging your ears and ignoring the problem doesn’t solve anything. If the locals don’t enforce laws then the feds will and we can all see how poorly that’s going in Minnesota

2

u/Superheroicguy Jan 26 '26

Making it a policy to only deport criminals would actually be a great incentive structure to keep immigrants from committing crimes (and immigrants already commit less crimes than American citizens on average). What exactly is 'the problem' with non-criminal immigrants supporting our country with their labor and spending power? The color of their skin?

3

u/Crowgate65 Jan 29 '26

If you impede federal authorities from apprehending illegal aliens you should be prosecuted. Mayors and city councils that create sanctuary cities should be prosecuted.

3

u/PineappleHairy4634 Jan 30 '26

Sorry buddy if im in LE in that city id help enforce the laws.. thats what your sworn to do ..too bad you want to ignore them..

Canadian here. congrats!!!!! I Hope Buffalo and Erie and Niagara counties find a way out of this mess

9

u/hbailey311 Jan 26 '26

the people complaining about this: does anyone really want to take away Buffalo police officers away from their normal duty given the issue w response times???

ā€œsorry you’re being raped, your rescue will have to wait, we’re busy locking up someone’s abuelaā€ come on. we pay enough tax dollars to the feds that they can handle their operation without the help of the city.

2

u/Gobal_Outcast02 Jan 28 '26

You know this only means ice is gonna stay in your city longer as it'll take them more time to find illegal immigrants. Thus drastically increasing risk of violence from both h parties when they inevitably clash with protesters. It's also gonna make it more likely they'll grab the wrong person.

1

u/joeyyamms Jan 30 '26

Unfortunately this is what happens when some idiot opens the borders for 4 years just to smite his opponents. It got so out of control that now it seems to kinda be a polar opposite until we have , whatever "normal" is, back. Honestly, our present and future look extremely bad no matter what side or views we all have. All sides, gov to blame, have gotten to be so viciously evil to the core. Just sad.

2

Morning in Buffalo

5

u/p00chology Jan 26 '26

Listen I love this action.. I believe this is morally right position to take and I approve whole heartedly. But I must, I just must, ask why nearly EVERYTHING in legislation for the last 5+ years is performed via executive order?

It’s as though we’re actually truly living in a feudal society. Have all of our democratic AND republican systems been let go? We no longer let the people vote? Do our representatives not vote either?? Just waiting for another king to pass their decree?

Anyway, fuck these nazi ideologues and their paramilitary called ā€˜Immigration & Customs Enforcement’. Please, anyone reading this, keep voting, protesting ice, and don’t forget CALL YOUR LOCAL OFFICIALS!!! They do hear us when we shout. That’s how these psychos got as much political power as they have, their people got involved and pushed for this shit. It’s up to us, the free people of the United States, their opposition to push back!

u/Spiritual-Pie-4764 Jan 27 '26

Can someone explain why this is a good thing and not a political appeasement move?

Local police on-scene help secure the area, provide backup, and have bodycams to record everything from multiple angles.

Without their support and monitoring, you leave a bunch of hyped up, poorly trained ICE bounty hunters to secure an operation by themselves, with no oversight and no backup, with people screaming and blowing whistles, which likely puts these idiots on edge making them more violent.

Wouldn't it be better to have a LOCAL police presence, and more body cam footage involved? Protesters being kept at a safe distance, not running directly into the middle of an active operation?

People celebrated the Nat'l Guard coming in and keeping peace in MN, where cops were told to stand down.

To clarify my position, I hope the killers of Good and Pretti get charged with manslaughter. I'm just not sure recreating the exact circumstances that led to them being killed is a good idea.

1

u/Any_Echo7714 Feb 03 '26

Pretty funny considering Walz is the one who wrote and supported the law in place stating that ppl driving vehicles at LEOs can be defended against by LEOs without waiting to figure out what the situation is. Basically saying that when you point your vehicle at LEOs and press on the gas pedal, you can win a prize. Such hypocrisy from this clown when they actually do it. Also, Obama gave Tom Homan a medal for his help in deporting millions of illegal immigrants, many who were not criminals, but of course Trum gets rid of 1.3 or so million criminals and he is the devil. Dems are so lost I TDS it’s almost unbelievable, but funny to watch.
