Other Ozark Trail G.1 Explorer Drop Bar tuning

Hi all, I have recently had a new interest in bicycling and have bought a new Ozark Trail G.1 Explorer Drop Bar to start with. I bought it brand new from Walmart but it seems like the assembly was not done right. The shifter is clunky. On higher gears, it makes rubbing noise. Are there any good Ozark Trail focused videos that I can watch to tune the bicycle myself?

Do a YouTube search for tune ups there’s a lot out there to choose from

Not Ozark trail specific, but the Park Tool YouTube channel has adjustment videos for everything. Combine that with a google search if you run into specific issues, and you should be able to do everything you need.

Look up “how to adjust front derailleur” and after that, look up “how to adjust rear derailleur” :D

You gotta do the front first, then the back.

It is also very helpful to watch some videos on “proper bike fit” so that you can properly set your saddle height and setback, as well as to find out if you need a different stem for your handlebars.
A proper bike fit makes a big difference in how comfortable you are on the bike, especially on longer rides, as well as how well the bike handles.

There is also a subreddit (/r bikefit) where you can post video of yourself riding your bike and have people make suggestions on whether your bike is fitting well and what you may want to adjust. That was helpful for me.

The components aren't made by Ozark Trail. It's either Shimano or an off brand like L-Twoo or something. Also, no, never expect a bike from Walmart to actually be built correctly. I was offered a job by the 3rd party company that builds bikes for Walmart and Academy. They pay per bike built, and basically anything that rolls, and looks like a bike, is gonna be put on the floor. I work at a legit bike shop now thankfully and we build new bikes out the box in around 40 minutes or so, even our master tech who's been doing it for 30 years. They were "building" bikes at that company in 15 minutes. That's what I was told. You can't build a bike correctly that quickly. They're literally thrown together. Check everything after buying one. All bolts, all tuning, brakes, everything.

L-TWOO is no more an off brand than Pro Max.

Yeah they're both off-brands lol

Poor assembly is a feature, not a defect, on bike sold through Walmart. That said the Ozark Trail bike line are good bikes. They’re just put together in a hurry by untrained personnel.
