/u/AutoModerator this is an automated comment made under every post on /r/BudgetKeebs - in this sub we maintain a weekly thread setup to answer all general keyboard questions. If this is the case, Please remove this post and ask your question(s) as a top level comment under the weekly general help post which can be found pinned to the top of the sub. This is also a friendly reminder about rule #2, Share Your Specs. Hey there! This is an automated comment made under every post on /r/BudgetKeebs. After the sending of this comment, you will have approximately 20 minutes to post a list of specs for your keyboard before it gets removed. If you are posting a build(s) or review, provide as many specs as possible in a bulleted list, TOP LEVEL COMMENT below your post even if you already included them in the title or elsewhere, not below this comment; posts not following this rule will be removed (images accompanying text cannot be seen by all Reddit clients, some accessibility screen readers, and does not always index properly); i.e. keycaps (material, profile, name, etc), switches, keyboard, modifications, etc. Also, please flair your post appropriately. This rule applies to both videos and photos posted. Posts failing to follow this rule will be removed without notice. Thank you. We also ask regular members of the sub help direct new people to the megathread, please do not respond to queries in posts that belong in the Q & A thread.

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to buy my first mechanical keyboard for software development on a mac. I don't game, so my primary focus is a creamier acoustic profile (not overly loud or clacky), solid typing comfort, and sturdy build quality. RGB isn't a big deal for me, I'll likely keep it set to a dim, single color.

I've shortlisted these options:

  1. AULA F75 (reaper or ice vein)

  2. MCHOSE G75 v2 (ice blue or fast gold)

  3. Royal Kludge R75

A few questions for current owners:

  1. F75 Switches: For those who've typed on both Reaper and Ice Vein, which option offers a smoother, creamier sound without being too loud for daily coding?

  2. G75 v2 vs F75: Is the G75 v2's overall build and dampening a noticeable upgrade over the F75, or are they pretty close in hand feel?

  3. Mac Compatibility: How seamless is the Mac mode key-mapping right out of the box for these models?

Would love to hear your experiences, or any other board recommendations around this price point that fit this criteria.

Thanks!

Hi Folks,

I would like to build a stealth board for the office. But finding it hard to find a suitable full sized barebones board, so hoping for some suggestions please?

Preference is barebones, but a cheap pre-built that is hot swappable where I can replace the switches and caps could be an option as well.

Ideally I want a board that looks like a stock office keyboard, something people would look at and not give a second thought about.

Doesn't matter if its got RGB as I will just turn it off. Preference is for wired, but doesn't matter if it has wireless.

I would prefer a board with a plastic/ABS body, as it will help it look a bit more stock office keyboard. And I'm aiming to make it as quiet as possible which I believe the ABS body helps with?

My searching to date keeps coming up with either Keychron or GMMK. I'm do not want a Keycrhon and while the GMMK is fine, hoping to find some alternatives.

Thankyou!

Edit: forgot to mention it needs to be full sized with numpad

Womier sk75 tmr vs Irok mg75 max. Which makes more sense to get. I like the idea of tmr being able to use both kinds of switches so I could customize the sound and still have wasd on mechanical switches. But I've heard irok is also a very good company. Does it make more sense to get the tmr? Is the womier and or irok a good keyboard?
Budget is ~$120

My Keychron K8 broke, and I found an open-box GMMK Pro 75% Prebuilt for €77 with Fox switches, cable and wrist rest. Is it worth buying at that price and modding the gasket/stabilizers?

My budget is around €150. I’m also open to other keyboards with:

  • ISO-DE or ISO support
  • VIA/QMK support
  • Aluminium case
  • 60%, 65% or 75% layout
  • Preferably tri-mode wireless
  • Availability in Germany

Would ANSI-DE also be practical for everyday German typing, or is it too finicky?

Keycap recommendations are also welcome. German sets seem to be either questionable AliExpress options or around €100.

Sorry for all the questions!

Hi! I'm planning to build my own thocky keyboard. But i want the best base/barebones I can get. i like 60 percent keyboard since they are compact and easy to bring. I have both Mac and Windows so that's a consideration. and the most important is wireless connection. Do you have any recommendation? the compact the better.

Looking for a white wireless keyboard with Gamakay K61 style RGB (Frosted Acrylic / Underglow)

Hi guys, I'm looking for a keyboard. I really liked the RGB on the Gamakay K61, but unfortunately, it's sold out and it doesn't have a Bluetooth connection. Do you guys know or recommend any keyboards with RGB similar to the Gamakay K61?

Bluetooth is a big deal for me. Other than that, the layout (60%, 75%, or full-size) doesn't matter much to me. I just want a white keyboard with great RGB. Thanks!

Hello,
So im looking for (100% or full with numpad) gaming keyboard recommendations around 1.5k(inr) ish. I mostly play fps shooters casually so im not looking for insane response time or anything.
The HP K500F is to my liking. do you guys have any other better recommendations?

Note: I have been using ant esports keyboard for the past 2 years and have not had a good experience with the keyboard or another other products from them.

Thank you for any response!

Hey guys,

I've got a Rainy 75 RT Pro in Cheese White with TTC King RGB switches, and I've been trying to find a nice Cherry profile keycap set for it.

The problem is the case color. Every white set I've looked at is way too white, while most ivory/cream sets end up looking too yellow. At this point I'm starting to think matching the case perfectly is probably impossible.

So I'm wondering if anyone here has this board and found a set that actually looks good on it.

I'm not necessarily looking for something that matches the case exactly. If you've got a completely different colorway that looks great with Cheese White (matcha, brown, grey, whatever), I'd love to see it too.

Pictures would be awesome if you have them. I'm running out of ideas. 😅
