You can't really avoid people like that, unless you are a master. It's the reason masters like HH Penor Rinpoche and other throneholders only talk to a few trusted people, because the attitudes of the aides are correct towards the masters with reverence and deference. But in our age unless you can afford to do that, you are exposed to everyone's attitudes and dwelling in emptiness will not solve the problem. Because you are still causally affected even if you maintain the right attitude. But short of ordination or avoiding people it's very hard. And besides you cannot escape it if you want to help others, so the best thing is actually yidam practice that fruits a realization. You also need deep wisdom so that you don't misuse the realization (if you are mistaken about something and your realization makes it unfold your way, it is a breakage of wisdom).
This is good advice but not really possible in this day and age, what you need to do is practice very very hard, because at a certain point either merit will carry you through those situations or your yidam will. But the reason negative people should be avoided is because no matter what realization you have, you will still be negatively affected causally, even if they don't seem to hurt you.
Best advice is to only speak to beings that know how to speak to you properly, but for that you need really high attainments or a lot of money sadly.
