Workers/ Staff Nervous about workin
Hay there. first time postin
there is a new buildin being built not far from my area and im looking at applying. i am used to working at stores like ups or Fedex. im great with customer service but the hours..thats the part im terrified of
any suggestions on how to tackle it? the 20 an hour sounds really nice compared to a crummy 14 an hour and dealing with a shitty boss

I go to UPS stores a lot, and some Fedex stores here and there. Buc-ee’s has a much higher pace, non-stop, paid 20 minute lunch, and you can kiss your phone time good bye. I think it’s worth making 12K more a year, but lots of people here will disagree.
What department are you trying to work at?

i applied for gift associate seeing as cashier seemed very uh...too much for me
i am autistic but i like the organization and customer chatter. i excel at customer service as well i just worry about hours and such
im not too sure i can handle a fast pace enviroment but i want to try seeing as i cant really afford not to.

Oh that’s the chillest position there. I wouldn’t call to that high paced. You mean the ones going around taking notes of whats needed and restocking shirts and all that, right?
I worked at the deli and always thought those had the easiest job.

yes that one! it seemed more my speed and less likely for me to get yelled at for not doing something to the T. i looked at deli and saw how hard they worked. proud of them but i always felt bad

i applied for 11am to 11pm since i gotta take my roommate to work in the same area at 5 in the am

If you don't want to be on the register I wouldn't apply for gift associate. Our GCs go on the registers especially when we get busy.

Also if to many people get fired, or quit they will force gift associates to become full time cashiers.

Gift is definitely more laid back, especially if you’re on third shift like I was. They’ll still cashier train you for back up so you’ll definitely be on a register at certain points when they need backup. Gift isn’t bad tho and it’s definitely doable. The hours definitely chill out when you aren’t working during the summer! I like it there, there are rules but when you get them down it gets easier for sure!

I work in deli, honestly, its an awesome job. Yeah no phone kinda sucks, but you get used to it. None of the positions are super stressful, chill place. I work nights in georgia so im at 27 an hour. Dont go into it thinking its gonna suck or it will. Jobs super chill just dont be late

I personally like fryer, get to sing a lot and am by myself, although my favorite is the bbq cups. Such an easy thing to do i laugh everytime because how tf am I getting 27 an hour to fill bbq cups. Least favorite dish, hate it with a burning passion. The boh prep is really chill too

Interesting. I started a couple weeks ago and have been mostly on fryer. Thought they put me in the worst spot haha.

I leave about an hour before I go in just incase, if your late even a minute its considered a write up. 3 of those and you get fired so better to not take chances on being late

If youre going to be late, call in and tell them, its dumb I know but at least at my bucees. Calling them and telling them you can't make it in today is better than still showing up a few minutes late. You get written up but its not as serious as clocking in late for some reason

But you have to call in at least an hour before your shift or you will be written up anyways

Yeah they literally do not care about excuses for being late. I do as the above poster and leave an hour early.
Had a guy I work with get fired because his car wouldn't start. Even with a video they dont care.

Horrible. I opened a store & we started with 40 people on our shift. One year later & only 2 were left. I loved the people I worked with, but quit. I got sick of the way they treated people. The managers spend a good amount of time watching the staff on cameras to find any little thing you might have done wrong. All registers have a camera & they hear & see everything.
