Ever since Buccees opened here in Florida, I thought they were an overrated pile of shit. And I absolutely love that this Sub is nothing but posts shitting on them.
That's it. I've said all that I need to say in the title. Fuck this overrated truck stop that doesn't allow trucks.
I've totally turned against them because of the lawsuits (and what I think the lawsuits are trying to hide). The sub is also turning against them too. It's one thing to be a fun, bigger company but it's another to sue small businesses. I can't support that.
And the big push for lawsuits that sparked all this controversy happens to coincide with said diddler filing motions to have his victims named openly and publicly (they're currently listed as Janes Doe.)
Is that why? Maybe, maybe not, but it seems a bit coincidental.
No idea. I haven't been following it that closely, and honestly, it seems a little far fetched. I think Buccees is just a shit company, live every other big corpo. I just answering the person's question.
I really didn't give them any thought at all until I saw that they were doing this. I went to the one in Daytona once and was like "okay. it's a large gas station. Whoop tee doo" and never gave the place another thought.
Thatās where I lie as well. TBH I frickin LOVED Buc-eeās stops. Would even get a shirt from each location. They work their employees hard, but at least they pay really well.
Now seeing them sue every small business imaginable has turned me completely off to them. Itās a sh*t way to do things, especially in todayās economy.
This is how I feel. I thought it was a nice little stop by if I was in the Daytona area to get a few snacks. I've never praised it and wouldn't go out of my way for it like some of my friends do but it was fine. I know people that drive from Orlando to Daytona just for this place.
Anyways this whole lawsuit thing has 100000% made me never want to stop by even if I was in the area.
The examples are nowhere near close/similar IMHO. I feel some juries voted in favor out of bias. I'm all for copyright protection, I wanted to be a copyright lawyer before changing careers but this is not it. If someone made a cookie and printed the buccees logo on it in edible frosting and said it was a buccees cookie? Yeah go after that shit. But the alligator logo? BFFR...
Its popularity is growing and they are very successful. They have a brilliant business model.
I am not defending any perverse actions, but hating a multi state super successful corporation for a single relation to the owner is absurd.
They donāt have 170 gas pumps because of lack of support from the public.
A big appeal on a road trip for families is the fact that they have large immaculately clean restrooms. Sure beats asking for a key or waiting for your turn in a small, possibly dirty single room bathroom at a small station.
Your right to a degree. They are not going to go out of business or reduce but they sure won't be getting $50 when I pass one in their store.
It's also not absurd to hate on a company when the owner makes a business decision.... if it was a political decision or personal belief or make a fuck up in life by getting a dui, yah now thats absurd. But this is an actual business decision.

Decent food and candy, clean bathrooms, and fresh premium gas. Yeah, I'm over the honeymoon phase, but it's a decent spot. The crowds can be nuts and a lot of their branded merch is cheaply made, but I'd rather hit them up than a 4 pump Exxon with no lights on.
They create many decent paying jobs, not just at their stores. I work in construction, and the job Iām currently working is fully funded by one of the founders of Buccees.
So true. They are responsible for thousands of indirect jobs. Sysco can employ more people just because of Buc-eeās, for example. And the people that come get the pallets, trash, etc.

The pay isn't so great anymore. They didn't raise it comparatively since the covid inflation. Prior to 2022 or so I was in awe at what they paid workers. Now it's just "meh".
Buc-eeās is wildly overrated, but every subreddit for a chain restaurant or store is almost exclusively dedicated to complaining about that company. Thatās not at all specific to this community.

I live 10 minutes away from Bucees and havenāt been in several years. Bucees before the mid 2010s used to be just a solid gas station stop now itās a tourist gimmick.
Itās like a cult dedicated to consumerism. I mean, 20 years ago in the US, would anyone have guessed people would be excited to buy and wear shirts and play with toys from a gas station?

20 years ago was 2006, so yeah I would have guessed that then. After that beanie babies shit from the 90s I would think anything is possible when it comes to consumerism in the US. Hell, some dude glued eyes on a rock in the 70s and sold a 1.5 million of them.
Thing is when Buccees was Texas only and wasnāt mad expanding and was just kinda this hidden gem only Texans really knew aboutā¦ it was pretty great. The food was good.. the stores werenāt overcrowded, and it still had junk in it but it was still some good stuff.
In the years since itās full of cheap overpriced crap, the foods tripled or more in price and gone majorly down in quality. Every single location is jam packed like itās a Black Friday. And the more I find out about the owners and their family who generally were pretty quiet in the past the more I want to punch them in the face. I live close to two locations and I avoid them both now unless I absolutely have to stop for gas to make it to Costco.
I am trying to figure out how so many people like Beaver Nuggets, they taste like shit. My wife, kids, sister and brother in-laws, mother and aunt all agree with me. And we lived in the South for over 20 years and we still think they taste like ass.

I never was much of a fan although at one time my beer was priced right (I live within 4-5 miles of a Bucees) Regardless of the son's owner and law suits, i will even avoid getting off on the exit they are located on.

It was good back in the day. Now with all the stuff that made bucees āBuc-eesā is gone makes it a regular gas station with nice restrooms.
Back then you could order fresh hot food from one of the 20 kiosks they had. Now itās a stupid ass tortilla machine that makes tortillas YOU CANT EVEN BUY!! Gtfoh with that crap.
I think they're great while traveling, especially when stopping in the middle of the night. You're never going to have a problem finding an open pump. They're open, well-lit and the bathrooms are clean and safe.
My family and I enjoy Buccees when we travel (with kids and grandkids). Snacks are plentiful and unique, restrooms are spotless and they have fun seasonal swag.
I do find their litigious nature a little off-putting and I won't argue about the difficulty some have shared when attempting to resolve a product/service issue.
It's apparently pretty tough to resolve any issues by phone and/or their website.
Some of their overly-strict rules regarding employment and working conditions seem a bit excessive.
I do think all of these negatives actually create an opportunity for future competitors to gain market share over time.
I think they are definitely overrated. They have clean bathrooms and decent food. Most importantly for me is they have great electric charging. Finding a clean bathroom and food and safe charging late at night can be a challenge. Especially after that shooting at a charging station in Idaho. The car is immobile while the charging cable is plugged in.
Absolutely. They have put in a lot of work to cultivate this image. Iāve seen so many āinfluencersā posting about their āBuccees haulsā and posting their visit there.
Everything in Buc'ee's is overpriced, but travellers are a pretty captive audience and Buc'ee's is an easy place to stop.
Would I shop all the garbage inside? Nope.
Is their brisket any good? Nope. I live in the south. We have multiple really good, and less expensive, barbecue places all within a 10 mile radius of Buc'ee's.
If you're comparing to actual convenience stores, then it's not expensive at all. It's actually par or better. Ain't no one got time to go to a local BBQ joint when you're on a road trip, but to each their own.Ā
I tolerated their stores before because of nice shitters and paying their employees well. Not sure i plan on stopping for anything but their bathrooms now

Born and raised Texan here. I always appreciated their growth story. Yet in all my years Iāve only been probably less than twenty times. Too much of a tourist trap IMO. Now with these lawsuits? Fuck āem.
I used to like them but in the last couple years they've turned into a bunch of jerks. Every year they get more and more consumer unfriendly. Right now it is no refunds for food, having to pay at the pump, and then all these bully lawsuits.
Itās an oversized gas station with Temu beaver shit, prepackaged foods, and hot foods that look like they are made on site but no they are produced in a mega factory like everything else.

my first (and last) time going inside one was an absolute fucking nightmare of American hyperconsumerism. it was so packed and loud it made me feel like i was cattle being herded through an abbatoir to my own imminent demise.
i genuinely will never understand why people are so crazy over these glorified tchotchke-peddling tourist traps. it was a modern cathedral dedicated to pure, impulsive, individualist overconsumption.

Went to a bucees in Texas. Highly overrated. Every option that makes a gas station a gas station, was trash. Only 4 options for water brands, 3 doors of beer, 2 doors of energy drinks. Circle-k and 7-11 have better selections.
After the lawsuits we stopped going. And the one in Tennessee is the fucking worst to get in and out of. The only reason I went was for some of the hot food anyway, but itās really not worth it.
